Obliged to give this one a 5, but only because of the superb decor and enoteca. The interior here is flat out one of the best in New York. Would make a great movie set, expecially when a tuxedo clad jazz band is playing. Main fare is expensive and a bit dull. In an attempt to be modern, Batali’s entres here tend to go without italian staples like garlic and basil, which can be an interesting minimalistic experience, but after the novelty wears off they can be a bit bland. If you do come, sneak in and have a seat on the enoteca side by the gorgeous bar. The $45 prix fix on this side is more than enough. Some of the choices are quite fabulous and you still enjoy the excellent live music. They have top notch stemware, even the excellent beer selection is served in a stemmed glass. Don’t be scared to top your bread with a bit of lard!
