cute small cafe. big sandwiches. the breakfast croissant can be excellent. today’s vegetarian reuben was quite bland. heart the croissants from balthazar before they run out.

perfect for a chilly night! the pork in the shoyu ramen wasn’t the best, and the gyoza were far from perfect, but overall, this meal was superb!!! such a tuesday treat.

ech — so,so. most of the kimchi was great, but that’s no stellar feat. I hear the Bi Bim Naeng Myun is amazing here, but — by myself — didn’t want that to be my full meal. I ordered the wonderous mouthful Kimchi Jap Chae Dol Sot Bap, but ended up with a big bowl of yawnish rice and chicken, and a brick in my stomach. Must return with others to try the BBNM. One of these days!!!

amazing toad in the hole for brunch today. absolutely amazing. (and in the fairly perfect back yard…) better yet, marya insisted the food was subpar, given previous meals. looking forward to a return visit!

Super small, and super cute, but the eating wasn’t so super good. Chicken Katsu sandwich was stringy, and a poor substitute for katsu-proper. The two wings included in the lunch special seemed to warn of better things to come — the meat was sparse, but the flavor was booming. (Why was the line at Shake Shack sooo long?!?!?!)

edible, but not really sure why you’d ruin the chance of a good meal here. poorly-made, poorly-cooked, tough, unflavored crud. leave it for unfortunate tourists and the sad curious passerby.

decent neighborhood indonesian. in the past, the lumpia were fantastic. tonight, tried the Bakwan (halfway between deep fried corn bread and a scallion pancake) and Beef Rendang (not nearly as spicy as the waitress kept warning, but darn good.) From past experience, avoid the bland nasi goreng or mie goreng.

cheap, but certainly not great thai. chewy, hard, and cold fried tofu, and fairly flavorless pad thai with shrimp. instead, word has it, there’s a place on 23rd between 6th & 7th… must try.
