So my friends and I wanted to try JUNO as they had just opened in the Arctic Club. I used to work for the city and my office was located there years ago, so I was anxious to see the renovations. The ambience was more than I expected in the lobby of the hotel at the Polar Bar. There is a beautifully restored Pool Table to enjoy as you sip on some Absinthe (it’s apparently legal now – haven’t had that since I was in Europe). We went down to JUNO after a cocktail and took a look at the wine list. To my surprise, being a wino, there was a lot to choose from. I haven’t seen a wine list so expansive since Canlis, yet much of it was reasonably priced. Right next to a $1500 Petrus was a $29 Bordeaux! We had the Lamb Loin which was encrusted with cocoa nib. I drank a Red Bordeaux by the glass – awesome combination. The service was very attentive. Our waiter referred to us by name the moment we sat down (i guess the hostess told him) and remembered it the whole night. For all the wine and the awesome food, the waitstaff is unbelievably laid back and unpretensious. We spoke with the manager/wine steward towards the end of our meal who came by to check on us. I must say that he is quite the host. I highly recommend this place for dinner
