Coffee, Food and Now - Game Night

I went to Coffee Social expecting to just have some quiche and coffee when what to my wondering eyes should be offered? Game Night!!

On Tuesday night, they offer games for all – Games we have: Chess, Backgammon, Cards, Cribbage, Mastermind, Scrabble, Parchesi, Mancala, Dominoes, and they have Books Galore!

Now, along with that extra special benefit, their Ham and Broccoli Quiche is something I could eat every day!

Also, their coffee cups are preheated and come in all sorts of wonderful colors – I believe it makes the coffee taste even better – if that is possible.

Dishes I tried:

Ham & Broccoli Quiche

The crust, the ham, the broccoli is great. What is a surprise and makes this dish even better is the cheese! Go in there and find out what kind of cheese they use.

Seattle Crab Company - Then & Now!

When this restaurant first opened, wonderful with a capital W. Now, as in tonight, it is the Pits! Way to hot and stuffy, tables dirty, even the supposedly clean ones. We asked to have our table cleaned, and even moved everything off so the waitress could do a good job but alas, the rdirty ag swirled around the middle of the table faster then cable modems.

Next, we ordered. The fettucine has always been wonderful so my husband thought he would order the seafood one but the Crab only selection. I ordered the Fish, chowder and salad, a favorite of mine. I asked for one extra piece of fish, and half a loaf of bread. (The charge now for the bread and that is a real bummer)

Ok, after waiting, and waiting and waiting, we get our order. I only get one piece of fish and my husband gets the seafood fett. Not the one he ordered with just crab but the one with all the shrimp and fish in it. I said "Where is my extra piece of fish?? and our bread? Waitress pretty much said ooops! She then took back his fett and said she would have it redone. I did not know then if we would stay but did start eating my food while my husband, who was celebrating his birthday watched. Finally the fett came and it was just crab – great! Oh, but not so great. The sauce and noodles were good but there were so many pieces of crab shell in the Fett that it was almost impossible to eat but he managed as he was hungry. My chowder was ok but lots of sand in the clams, my salad and dressing was good, oh and she finally came with my other piece of fish.

Hmmm, you may be wondering what happened to the bread we mentioned at the beginning of this tale? Well, it finally came and was it the half loaf we asked for? No, it was a full loaf and we declined the offer.

Now, what was happening around us? I , having worked in restaurants for years as a cook can tell you that they were busy, but either someone was sick or management decided that on a Friday night to have less people working, thus their bottom line would be bigger that night because they did not have to pay out as much in wages. Some of the tables that were dirty when we arrived, an hour before were still dirty and this is not a big place.

Suffice it to say that the Seattle Crab Company that started out as a real nice restaurant to bring out of town company to, has really declined in both service, affordabililty, and general cleanliness. It is sad to see it go downhil but that is the feeling I have had the last few times I have come in to eat.

I believe that this is the last time we will go there.

The noodles and sauce were wonderful. The crab had some many shells in it that almost every bite, my husband had to put his fingers into his mouth to fish one out.

Also, presentation-wise, no parsley, nothing to color up the dish and it really needed something.

Finally, Fresh Potatoes for Hashbrowns!

This is the best breakfast in Bothell, with the thickest bacon. Can’t see through any bacon in this place.

I love the sign on the wall that says “not fast food but fresh food done as fast as possible.”

The next time they serve Posole, a mexican soup, you had better order some!

Meat was served as I requested and the scrambled eggs were not bouncing off the plate, but just done as I love
