Another medium sized fine Chinese restaurant
This is an excellent place for lunch or dinner. They offer an extensive lunch special menu with entries priced below $8.00. The service was prompt and the four of us present each was well pleased.
The restaurant is nicely decorated and very clean.
Dishes I tried:
Shrimp with lobster sauce
About ten good sized shrimp with rice, noodles and several sauces. Plus soup, fried wanton and tea. Everything was exellent.

Off to a rough start
I and two of my friends tried this restaurant for lunch. We were disappointed. My fried fish platter was overcooked. One friend had a Mongolian bowl where you select the ingredients and they cook it for you. There was no meat out to select and when it was brought it was in a frozen lump.
We speak English and were only able to communicate with the order person with difficulty.
The food offerings were mostly oriential but there was no real chance of having Hawaiian BBQ- strange.
The eating area was of a cheap plastic type. Everything looked very clean and the staff were polite. Perhaps this place was just having growing pains and will improve shortly.
Dishes I tried:
Fried fish platter
There was shrimp, scallops and fish all over fried. Also, a small scoop of macroni salad was provided with a tiny bit of lettuce salad. For the price ($8.25) this would have been a good meal if the seafood was not overcooked.

A small Chinese all you can eat buffet.
The food is good but far more limited in selection than the newer and larger Chinese buffets. If you are in the mood for inexpensive Chinese food this is a good place to go. Lunch is $5.95 and dinner is a dollar more. Price includes soft drink.
I would stop by more often if there was a change in one of the offerings each day. I get bored with the same selections all the time.
Clean and friendly service. Children welcome and they get a good price break.
Update: There may be a new owner. I arrived at about 1:30 PM and found that the offerings seemed to be mostly leftovers from the previous day. Very poor- I will wait for yet another new owner before I go again.

The cooking staff needs to try harder.
This is a food and fancy beer joint. It was clean and the service was prompt.
I am thinking that someone in authority thinks that the bottom line can be improved by cutting quality and raising the price. They had a good crowd when I was there but that may not last for long.
Dishes I tried:
New York Strip dinner
We both ordered the 11 ounce New York Strip for $23.50 each. I have had better New Yorks from Vons on special. The shoestring French fries likely had been frozen. All in all a poor meal for the price.

A new supermarket with Mexican eat in or take out.
Vallarta Supermarket is not a restaurant in the usual sence but you sure can select from a wide range of Mexican plates. There are handy tables and chairs for eating pronto.
The many entries are in steam table trays behind glass and a server makes up your plate on the spot.
Clean as a whistle and sure smelled good. I was not in an eating mood but will surely be back!
Update: I’ve been back. Had the Mexican style beef soup- $4.95 for a huge bowl with torteas.Friend had a huge plate of carnetas for $6.50. Everything outstanding.

Donuts do not get better than this.
This is the place to get donuts and like pastry. The selection is large and they are baked fresh on site. The coffee is good also.
You order your donuts at an outside window and can use the outside tables if you like. Most people seem to order a few donuts to take home.
Prices vary but about $7.00 will get you a dozen of the best donuts I have found in Southern California.

A newly established small Korean restaurant
This is the site of several previous Mexican reataurants. It is newly redecorated, clean and the service is very good.
The two of us arrived at 7:30 pm on a Thursday and had the place to ourselves. There is seating for about thirty.
Soft drinks served in cans. Beer and wine available. Children OK.
Dishes I tried:
Fried Chicken with salad
The chicken was all dark meat butchered in a strange way. Chicken bones shatter when struck with a cleaver. I would not order it again.
Orange Chicken
A generous portion of chicken with very good flavor. Served with choice of rice.

Good service, very clean but disappointing food.
I have visited this restaurant several times but today is the last. I recall having previously had the fish & chips. It was OK but nothing to write about.
Today I had the Denver omelet and coffee. The omelet was about as plain and uninspiring as it could be. I wonder if it was machine made. What got me going was the crummy hash browns served. They had to have come out of a bag of frozen shredded potatoes and likely were Iowa potatoes, that, IMO, are not the best choice for hash browns. It bothered me that the glob of potatoes was sort of crisp on the outside and raw and stickey in the middle. When I tried to liven things up with catsup the plastic bottle was empty. For the first time in a long time I did not clean my plate.
The coffee was good as was the wheat toast served.

Very dependable high quality food.
I have eaten here perhaps 20 times over the years. They always excell at good service, fine Mexican food and pleasant athmosphire.
The prices are fair and coupons are often available which makes for a real bargain. Try them- you’ll like them.
Super clean, children welcome.
Dishes I tried:
Chili reallino
Plenty of real Mexican flavor. Served with rice and refried beans.
