Yes – this is one of the best sushi’s I’ve had in the States – brings back memories of having sushi in the Tokyo Tsukiji Fish market! We were lucky to be served by the owner and had the Omakse. The “Spoonful of Happiness” dish was amazing – there were layers and layers of flavors that explodes in your mouth. Highly recommend the restaurant!!!

Unbelievable! Everything about it reminds me of Guu, my favorite Japanese tapas restaurant in Vancouver, and it turns out that Musha’s owner and Guu’s owner started out together and that’s why the cooking style is so similar! The pure tofu was fantastic; the Japanese style pasta was good; and the chicken karage was EXACTLY like Guu’s! Will gladly come here instead of Sushi Sasabune and Sushi Roku from now on.

The good: The Uni was very fresh, which is hard to come by.
The bad: The service was terrible! It’s hard to imagine someone can say no to their customers so many times. When asked for recommendations, the waitress just recommended the most expensive items on the menu. When asked to explain something on the menu, the waitress just looked bored and annoyed. The rolls were trying too hard to be inventive but just did not taste like anything special and did not strike that special balance of flavor which is signature of good Japanese cuisine. I almost never think or care if something is overpriced, but this place is definitely overpriced and I would probably never go back.

I kind of wrote off Hapa a few years ago when it first opened, as it felt like a trying-too-hard-to-be-a-high-end-version-of-Guu. May be I ordered the wrong thing. Very much pleasantly surprised tonight – everything was good. Sashimi was fresh, everything was tasty and just enough. I like it.

Kind of stuffy and old school looking, and that’s about the only criticism I have. I had the foie gras and caprese as appy and it was just perfect to set me up for the rack of lamb – which was extremely flavorful. And then of course, the wine – very very happily libated! The Grand Marnier souffle was just perfect. I would come again (if i’m in the neighbourhood).
