Good times, great food
This little restuarant is located in the strip mall across the street from McKinley Mall. It isn’t much to look at, but go on Friday or Saturday night and you’ll be waiting in line for an hour. The restaurant is made up of mostly high backed booths. For larger parties, the booths located in the center of the room have a divider that can be removed. The wait staff are fantastic! Most of them have been employed there for years. It feels wonderful to see the same people wait on you year after year. The menu is large and they offer multple choices and wonderful favorites. Alcohol is served. There is a children’s play area in the front of the restaurant and the desserts come from Butterwoods. I dine here about once a month and always take out-of-town guests for lunch! Lunch and dinner are both served, they also offer a fantastic Mother’s Day Brunch. The pricing is very reasonable.
Dishes I tried:
Fall Harvest Salad
Add chicken for an extra $2.00. This salad is amazing and there is almost too much to eat. The greens are placed in the middle of a large plate with small groups of chopped fruits (oranges, apples, raisins) and nuts (sesame seeds, pecans or walnuts) on the outer rim. If chicken is served, it is placed in the middle on top of the greens. Wonderful presentation. This salad goes best with Poppyseed’s homemade dressing.
Spinach and Artichoke Dip
This is a creamy, hot blend of cream cheese, spinach and artichokes, served with homemade pita chips which are shaped into large triangles. This is a yummy start to any dinner and is highly recommended!
