The salad bar was fresh, while not extensive, it was satisfying and fairly healthy choices were available.
The others ordered the shrimp and steak meal which they said was very good.

Dining experience at Hodad's is a Blast

Serves amazing hamburgers in three sizes (mini, single, and double), cheeseburgers or bacon cheeseburgers, and the veggie burger is also amazing! Order solo or as part of a basket with a pile of Frings – the best of both worlds (onion rings and potato wedgie/fry combo). The amazing thing with their fried food is they aren’t greasy! The double burger, which is two good-size patties, is huge and piled inside a broad sesame seed bun with lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle, mayonnaise, mustard, and ketchup. The menu warns that all burgers come with all condiments “unless you say otherwise”.
The milk shakes are everything you want a shake to be!

The hamburger is presented partially wrapped in wax paper, providing a way to keep it together as you eat it. Don’t take the paper off! It is there for a purpose, to keep the burger to keep the immense thing from disintegrating. Eat your onion rings and French fries first. Drink your milk shake. then tackle the burger.

Getting to Hodad’s is a blast. The street is lined with palm trees, and with a gorgeous ocean view, Newport Avenue is a colorful part of the city. It is occupied by surf shops, tatoo shops, juice bars, and high-proof bars, this rockin’ joint fits right in! Its walls are festooned with vanity license plates from around the nation; surfboards are strung above the dining room. Seating includes hard wood booths and a counter along the front wall with stools to watch the girls go by while enjoying the best burgers in town. Each booth is outfitted with a cardboard container that once held a six-pack of beer bottles. And there’s a VW front end for interesting dining along inside. Don’t miss this place

Great Italian Buffet Restraurant

The food is fresh, the selection refreshingly varied. They have some healthy options on the buffet for the those watching their waistlines and those that don’t care. Some consider it a bit pricey, for lunch it runs 10.00 so it is unless you bring a hearty appetite.

I liked the salads, the bread options, the macaroons are out of this world in my book. A must do it the sauteed vegetables, always fresh and not over cooked.

Great food on the river

Went with my girlfriends. We all ordered the Beef tenderloin salad and I had them substitute the beef for grilled chicken. It was very good, both meats were very tender. They accomodated my special request to change the meat selection. Very good service, kept our glasses filled. In this 100 degree temp we are having that was important!

substituted the beef for grilled chicken. Very good, size of dish was filling, dressing is a bit tart but not too. would order it again for the price it was reasonable because they had a full chicken breast on salad.

great tasting chopped sirloin steak

I absolutely loved this meal. They held most of the seasoning for me, put the onions, sauce and mushrooms on the side. I think I ended up with thei special seasonings on the burger and fortunately I am not allergic to whatever is in it as I asked for the seasonings to be held as well.
The bread they serve is not very exciting, little flavor.

11 oz. Certified Angus Beef® fresh ground steak topped with sautéed mushrooms, grilled onions & our Cognac Pepper Sauce. Not absolutely sure if it was 13.99 or 11.99. It was plenty of food, ordered the yam as my sidewinder along with a salad dry and no croutons. I would definitely order this again.
**All Ranch Hand Favorites, Chicken, Seafood & Saltgrass Combo dinners are served with a Dinner salad, Caesar salad or a cup of soup & Shiner Bock Beer Bread plus your choice of a Sidewinder.
the salad and chopped steak was enough by themselves, I took the yam home with me.
Took the bread home and made french toast with it the next morning. It was very good this way.

meal review not so good

Went there 6-4-09 and ordered the double cheeseburger with Ketsup and cheese only meal deal. It came with 2 sides- chose fries and onion rings. Flavorful burger but the thin, skinny fries were cool and soggy and the onion rings were good, not as greasy as the fries. Good thing we ordered to go because we had to heat and sop up some of the grease on the fries.
Ordered the pepperjack Melt, that was good. Again the meat was thin and flavorful. Fries were much warmer than the other order, they looked fresher. We did get 3 shakes-chocolate and butterfinger, they were ok. None of the food was anything to write home about. I am not saying anything about the food was outstanding. Also, I thought the prices were high for what we got. Used multiple coupons in trying this restraunt out and still came to 19.00.

Tasty Melt but the meat was thin. Very greasy for the amount of onions and cheese on it.
Fries come very thin, which Steak and Shake is known for. I didn’t care for them. Nice thing about them though is they aren’t coated in salt. Orderedd a side salad with it for a charge of 1.25
