Exquisite Gourmet Food in a Beautiful Setting
Everything you could ask for in a fine Napa gourmet meal – the food was all masterfully prepared from the freshest ingredients, the menu was large and varied, and the wine list was excellent. The restaurant was gorgeous, nestled inside one of the most beautiful wineries in the valley. The service was very good, though not perfect – our waitress seemed a bit distracted.
Dishes I tried:
Duck Prosciutto Salad with Pomegranate Seeds, Walnuts, and Nocello Vinaigrette
An oustanding first course – a perfect balancing of fresh flavors (from the pomegranate seeds and fresh greens) and woodsy flavors (from the duck, walnuts, and Nocello (a walnut-flavored liqueur). It also had little slices of a nice French cheese (I don’t remember the name) which gave it a little more richness which contrasted perfectly with the pomegranate and the light vinaigrette.
Veal Ossobucco
Perfectly cooked, melt-in-your-mouth veal with a very flavorful brown sauce and perfectly complementing chopped root-vegetables.
Baked Sturgeon in Lobster Sauce with Forbidden rice
Perfectly cooked sturgeon – characteristically full-flavored and thick textured, but not at all dry or offputtingly fishy as sturgeon can often be. Crispy on the outside, soft and moist inside, very flavorful sauces and the Forbidden Rice was so tasty – both on it’s own and together with the fish.
Home-made Pasta with Duck Confit, Forest Mushrooms, and Truffles
Such a flavorful dish! The flavors of the light truffle-cream sauce, the delicate forest mushrooms, and the fresh pasta all combined wonderfully. It was even better when topped with the optional side of Fresh Italian White Truffle Shavings – which was $40 extra (not bad considering the amount given and it’s very high quality)
