The best breakfast you ever had anywhere- you’ll lick your plate clean, I promise. If you go with a friend/lover/whatever, order a sweet dish to share- preferably the Chocolate French toast with berries (be sure to add the huckleberry jam on top). But make sure to have a snack before going, there is line. And if you see Cyrus, tell him I said Hello :)

If you’re a sushi snob, please go here. The service is hit or miss, but the food never is. Fresh fish always, very creative rolls, the sashimi melts in your mouth and it’s hard not to eat enough for 3 people. Everything tastes amazing. My favorites are the Golden Gate roll (salmon and lemon roll), the beef tatake, salmon and tuna tartar (borderline orgasmic) and basically anything the chef makes special. To get these tasty treats you should buy him a drink ;) and be prepared for a lovely amuse-bouche. One word for this place: MMMMMMM.

Beautiful surroundings, great for a sunny breakfast/lunch outside while people watching. Wonderful fresh dishes, lowfat and healthy. You have to be careful with salads- if you don’t like pickles or olives, you have to say so because they are usually a staple. The breakfast menu is varied and delicious- the potatoes are excellent, shredded and crispy but soft on the inside and never greasy. The Artichoke Benedict is my favorite breakfast there. As for lunch, I am not the best judge because I can’t get past the Stuffed Bell Peppers. I can’t bring myself to order anything else because it’s such a damned delicious dish. If they are ever out of it, it’s because I’ve cleaned them out :)

Yummy shaved ice, the cherry is the best. Sweet and deep red, your tongue stays scarlet and your tummy stays cool- great for a hot day. Reminds me of when I was a kid. A plus is the candy selection, all the things you’d beg your mom to buy and were told “no.” I kind of wish she still would because I have no will power of my own.

Good for a quick lunch but you have to make sure to catch them on a day when the fish is still fresh. Very small but great service. It’s not bad sushi, but I think I just have very high standards. Honestly, Montana Avenue needs a sushi spot that kicks ass…not like there’d be a lack of patrons for such a place.
