Ze Himalaiyas?!
Awesome curries, just great. The menu is full but not overbusy, and they are SO DAMN FRIENDLY! I love this place. Most of their foods have a vegetarian option to use tofu or vegetables and they still wind up delicious; this is a place where groups including vegetarians and meat eaters can easily dine together. I wanted to drop them a star because they sometimes take a while to bring food when they get busy, and because I found no evidence they use naturally fed meats, but they are SO DAMN FRIENDLY I couldn’t bring myself to do it.
If you are stuck for choice try Lassa Curry with Lamb.

Hangover ER
Exemplary diner food. The place looks kindof worn and the decor as well as the menu is kindof a fusion of Greek food and North American diner. I cannot address the Greek side of the menu, but I can report that their hi-cal diner foods are well executed. They say nothing is so hard to play as an easy tune, but these guys step up to the plate with delicious, if not health conscious, breakfast classics.
There is of course plenty of room for improvement, as in any place that serves freezer jam. Notably something about naturally / humanely raised meats and eggs or grass fed steak is the first suggestion to take it from ‘solid diner’ to ‘destination’. However FHBAG will remain my first port of call when I wake up after a visit from the hangover fairy.

Solid unpretentious sushi right down by First
Koji is easily overlooked because the decor is kindof plain, but don’t let it fool you. The sushi is nicely made and tasty, and they even have a sushi happy hour. The feel of the place is authentic and the Japanese beer selection is a nice touch. If you haven’t tried it and you want a great treat, try some ice cream tenpura – they have it in red bean and green tea flavors.

An average hamburger.
I think people get excited about this place because compared to Muckdonalds it is off the chart. I don’t eat garbage food so I am comparing to regular food. It was a good burger, nice sauce, good portion size; it was adequate. That is where it stops though, I found no suggestion that the meat was local, grass-fed, or humanely raised (who cares right?), or that it wasn’t full of cow hormone. Also there was really nothing to commend it above a common burger, no exciting morsels to accompany it. The milkshake was kindof flawed in execution somehow so I ended up with a cup of chocolate chips at the bottom.
I enjoyed the place and the people were nice; go, eat, but don’t believe the hype.
