Taste-tastic!
This place is perfect for a Chicago night out with friends, especially those tired of pizza or steak! The ambiance is perfectly warm, Cajun and loud, the food is pretty authentic, and they sell about an entire wall of hot sauce in case you can’t get enough there….definitely a great experience!
Dishes I tried:
Shrimp Angry
I really do like my shrimp angry from time to time, and this was hot enough to make me want to kick them!

Ehhhh....
I think Shaw’s over-rated as far as food and ambiance go….ate here more than a few times and was never really wowed for the price….plus service was spotty at best, especially when not eating in the formal dining room.
Dishes I tried:
lump crab cake
Good, but I’ve had better elsewhere….

So Fun! So Tasty!
Big Bowl is the best concept for ‘fusion serve’? I love the stir fry grill and ability to mix whatever I want and hope it all comes out for the best – and it always does! Plus, casual and sort of like a retro diner crossed with a chinese restaurant-type of atmosphere. How could you not enjoy?

Nothing Can Possibly Be Better
I’ve never eaten better crab than at Bob Chin’s. I’ve also never had a better mai tai (or two…), consumed so much garlic bread, or waited three hours just to be seated – twice! Bob really knows what he’s doing. I’ve tried some of the other menu items, but the Alaskan King Crab legs are just too good to eat anything else!

Best first American meal in a while!
Loved the whole experience of descending into the dining area, the perfunctory hailing, and beautiful, slightly amazing ice sculpture to gaze at. The menu was perfect – so many choices. Japanese fusion dessert was still the unique reward of the night.

Always worth it
Not as great an ambiance as LA, but had a wonderful dinner here. Waitress was the only deterrent – it was difficult for her to bother to serve us at times. However, the food as usual made up for it.
Dishes I tried:
Coconut Layer Cake
This is hands down one of the best desserts I have ever eaten. A wonderful light layer cake with just enough milk to make it meaningful, plus an amazing, not-too-sweet coconut icing.
Calamari Salad
An amazing plethora of flavors. I could have eaten the whole thing alone – who thought banana, heart of palm and calamari work? Well, they do!
Asian Pesto Grilled Shrimp
This was not worth the order. Too generic. Yes, it was grilled, and yes it had some pesto on it. But I was not delighted.
Cuban BBQ Chicken
Wonderful flavor and just fell off of bone. Melted in my mouth. This was divine.
Palomillo of Marinated Lamb
The peppers and eggplant tarnished the flavor of the lamb. I was terribly disappointed.
Lobster-boniato Mash
I am pretty sure I hoarded this from my dining companions and ate as much as I could before the waiter pried the bowl from my hands. The cream-laden potatoes just marry perfectly to the little langostino lobster, which is bountiful inside!
