Another place that I have gone past in...
Another place that I have gone past in International District many times but have only stepped in for the first time last friday :) If you want to try out lots of non-sushi type Japanese items this Ikazaya place is not bad. It’s always packed with people and as a result I think service suffered (they only had two-people waiting the tables…)
Basically, unless you flag down the wait staff, they will pretty much not come to serve you :)
Having said that, the dishes are not bad, don’t remember what we all had since went with a large group and many plates were ordered, the price per plate is ok. Would’ve given it better rating if not for the service. Oh well.
Bahn Thai Restaurant

Was looking for some place to eat before...
Was looking for some place to eat before heading to Winterfest 2007 last night and came across this restaurant while walking around. We had pretty standard dishes:
1 chicken satay: this appetizer dish is served with big meaty sticks of white chicken with a plate of satay sauce, and some cucumbers and bread
2. phad thai: with chicken. this is very standard affair type dish, it’s pretty good. But it’s hard to mess up a phad thai dish, I think.
3. ‘what a feeling’: we ordered this just because of the name, it turned out to be a combination stir fry with different meats in it (chicken/beef/pork, I think), and with some spicy special sauce. It’s not bad.
the waiting staff is prompt and attentive, and are very friendly, overall I liked the restaurant. if I am in the Seattle Center area I will probably go visit this restaurant again.

I have gone by this place a number of times on the way to the Seattle Pro Club and have wanted to go in.
Upon learning from a friend that on Sunday’s they offer half-price off their entire food menu, it was not hard for us to decide to come here to give it a try.
The restaurant is brother to the Greenlake and Eastlake bar and grill. The furnishing is contemporary and sleek. There is also an upstairs section for extra seatings.
We had fried calamari for appetizers (good sized portion), I had the lemon-grilled salmon for dinner. The salmon was cooked just right and is very tender and fresh. It’s also served with garlic mashed potatoes and veges. Very tasty – and the fact that it is halfprice made it even better.
On a sunday, this place definitely gets 5 stars – too bad the drinks are not half price :P

Had lunch here this weekend. The hand shaven noodlesoups were pretty good (I had the braised beef one), but the shanghai dumplings are only mediocre (it was not juicy enough, and the dumpling wraps were way too thick).
Kaname

This is the replacement restaurant for the now...
This is the replacement restaurant for the now closed-down, but dearly beloved (by me at least) Takohachi restaurant in International District.
Kaname is much more upscale than Takohachi, the interior and decor is a combination of both traditional and modern. The place is a lot more open, and the second part of the restaurant (which was always closed off in the Takohachi days) are now open with additional seating and a bar.
We ordered the chicken karaage and gyozas for appetizers, and flipping through the menu I saw a Donburi item named ‘Kaname Special Donburi – for BIG EATERS!’ and so I decided to order that to test out their claim :) The chicken karaage is tasty and is served with some noodles and a slice of orange, and gyozas were pretty plain.
The Kaname special donburi, was, well, not quite the big eater’s feast I was expecting. A friend of mine ordered a Katsu don, and I think the Kaname special is probably about 15% larger portion-wise than the Katsu don. It came with a good assortment of different items inside though (basically a combination of all different types of Donburi meats are present in here – Katsu, tempura, thinly sliced beef stirred fried with onions etc). It’s quite tasty – I liked it in general other than the fact that they claimed it’s for big eaters whereas it clearly is not :)
The service is pretty slow. But for a new restaurant I guess they still have things to iron out. Overall, it’s not too bad. I will come back and try the ramen next time.

Reasonable priced Japanese food on Broadway....
Reasonable priced Japanese food on Broadway. I have heard mixed reviews from friends and I finally tried it out today.
Had salmon/yellow tail/octopus nigiris – which were ok.
The seafood salad is great! and also pretty well priced.
The Chumwa Mushi is pretty standard affair and tasty, wish it was a bit bigger though.
The Oyako don was good and not too expensive either.
The place was packed, and you can see why.
I will be eating there more from now on :)

This new restaurant on the Hill manages has great atmosphere, and excellent food.
The service was a bit slow, but the restaurant was packed so that was to be expected. Both the salmon and the lamb were scrumptious, and the rest of the menu look interesting and there are a couple more dishes I want to try out the next time I go :)
Bluefin Sushi & Seafood Buffet

good selection of sushi, some sashimi,...
good selection of sushi, some sashimi, seafood, and chinese/korean hotfoods. Selection is slightly better than Todai, and the food is fresher, probably because it just opened. Give it a couple of months and lets see if the quality goes down like the rest of the Asian food buffet eats around here.
it was super busy even on sunday for dinner. Had to wait eons to get a table. free soda (whoopi!) for grand opening I think.
Lunch is probably a better deal.

Really popular on a sat night, service was slower as a result, but the food more than made up for it. We had chicken and spinach Momo, Mango Mazza with chicken, and Chicken tikka saag. and bottomless chai tea :)
The Mango mazza was amazing, although maybe it’s because I love everything with paneer in it :D It’s still really good though. Had real chunks of mango in it, with chicken, paneer, and veges in a very tasty sauce. And came in a big portion too.
