Went there for lunch--only the lounge was open.

I had been reading good things about this place, so I was interested enough to check it out. Unfortunately, only the lounge is open for lunch. That means a (very) limited menu, but it’s pretty cheap.

I have heard that the Reef N’ Beef looks like it comes straight out of the 80’s, but I would have to disagree. I think it looks more like the 70’s!

I ordered the steak sandwich, substituting a stuffed potato for fries. Doing so cost me and extra $2.50, but that was no big deal. A salad would have cost $3.50. It was very good. I asked for medium rare, and I got medium rare. I’m always amazed when that happens! I like steak sauce, but this steak was good even without it. The stuffed potato was also very tasty.

My friend ordered the hot roast beef sandwich with fries. She said it was good, but nothing to write home about. She had been here before, in the restaurant side for dinner, and had the filet mignon, which she said was surprisingly good.

The service was good, too—more like you would find in a decent restaurant than in a lounge. I also thought it was nice that the TV wasn’t blaring like you find in some lounges.

I asked to look at the restaurant’s dinner menu, just out of curiosity. I got the impression that their prices are okay, but very overpriced for crab and even lobster. However, I’ve only ever been to Red Lobster, Monty’s Crab Shack, and Mother Tucker’s for crab, and only The Keg and Red Lobster for lobster, so maybe I don’t know what I’m missing! I would try it once to see if there’s a huge difference. Or maybe I would order something else on the menu, which seemed reasonable enough.

The waitress told me not to take a picture of the menu, but then she laughed so I don’t know if she was serious or not. Before she told me that, I already had a shot of the lounge menu.

Pretty good for the price. Some might find it a little small (I guesstimate between 4-6 oz.), but again, look at the price!

This was also pretty good, and she loaded it up with butter, sour cream, (real) bacon bits and chives for me! Yum!

My friend had this; she said it was okay, but not great. It came with fries.
