Seafood at it's best

The seafood is brought in fresh everyday. There are so many choices from oysters, clams, and crab legs to steak and chops. You really want to go for the seafood though! The steak was done to perfection and was well worth trying, but you can get a good steak at so many other restaurants I wouldn’t waste the money. We had Oysters Rockefeller and clams to start. You can order as many clams as you desire. They were wonderful. The oysters were a nice size portion. Next we had our salads and soups. The salads were pretty basic – nothing fancy but good. I had the lobster bisque was very tasty, although a little too rich. For the entree I had the crab legs, my companions had the steak and lobster, twin lobster tails and clams with pasta in a white sauce. I had a taste of the lobster which was done very well. The crab legs were good, however, they were not any more exceptional then any other restaurant I have had them in. Our waiter was knowledgeable on the food and wine selection. He was attentive to our needs and helpful with our choices.

Overall, I would recommend this restaurant. On that note, if you decide to go be prepared to open your wallet. Everything is expensive. For special occasions it is well worth the expense.

The crab legs were great. However, they weren’t any better at this restaurant than others. They were much more expensive than other restaurants.

Steak so tender

My husband and I and two other couples decided to go out for a really nice dinner. We decided to try Manny’s Steakhouse as we had heard so many wonderful things. The ambiance was charming. The waiter, a classy older gentleman, suggested a red and a white wine for us to start. After previewing the menu we ordered a couple of appetizers. Oyster’s Rockefeller and Apple smoked Bacon. I thought the oysters were a little small for the price but they tasted great. Apple smoked bacon seemed an odd appetizer but had to try it. It’s worth going there just for that. Then the waiter came up to the table with a cart full of raw meat and a live lobster. So we picked out our dinner. The poor lobster was one of the chosen. We had a variety of entrees. I had the Filet Mignon, very tender and flavorful. My husband had the lobster tail. He thought it was done perfectly. He had no guilt about looking at him in the eye previously. You have a choice of accompaniments which are ala carte but serve two. We ordered a couple different vegetables and tried the loaded mashed potatoes and the hash browns. For the cost these were not anything really exceptional but good if you like your meat and potatoes. After dinner we had some desert and after drinks that the waiter recommended. He seemed knowledgeable about the food and beverages. He also had a fun sense of humor. I would go back for other special occasions. Manny’s is not a restaurant we could frequent on a weekly basis as it expensive. Overall worth the experience

A local steakhouse

I was very excited that a nice steakhouse opened up closer to home. We’ve always had to travel into Minneapolis to go to a nice, upper scale restaurant. When Porterhouse opened I was thrilled as it was only a few miles from my home. We decided at the last minute to go one week day evening. We walked in with out reservations. They were not very busy so were able to be seated immediately. The ambiance was classy and warm. Our waiter was pleasant but seemed to be in a hurry. We ordered our wine and previewed the menu. He came back to take our order never suggesting any specials. I ordered the house steak, porterhouse. My companion ordered the twin lobster tails. The entrees came and looked delicious. The presentation was excellent. Took one bite of the steak and thought I must have gotten a grisly piece. After a few more bites I realized it was the steak. It was not tender and did not have the best flavor. The lobster had a chewy texture and was not firm as lobster should be. We thought maybe it was just a bad one – that happens. But the other tail was exactly the same. The flavor of the lobster was a little different too. Not really bad just different and strong. I think they use the wood fire style of cooking. I like that they are close but would not be my first choice for a good steak. I will give them a second chance and order something different.

Maybe it was a fluke but it was not a very tasty steak. Chewy and grisly with very little flavor.

Enjoyable

Jensen’s was a wonderful dining experience. The menu offers a variety of meats, including steak, chops and chicken. They also have a nice selection of fish, lobster and shrimp. All menu items are ala carte but, the portion size is big enough for two. My husband and I decided to go out for a nice dinner but didn’t want to go too far. Its location was one of the reasons we decided to give it a try. I had the shrimp scampi and my husband had the halibut with lobster sauce. We shared the asparagus with hollandaise sauce. The presentation was elegant. The food is good, not excellent but good. The ambiance is that of a supper club. The staff was pleasant, not as knowledgeable as some restaurants I have been in, but they make the experience worth it. I would go back because of the location, the food was good and the prices are reasonable.
