Cool jewel

Had the Massaman lamb shanks! It was the best food I have had since I cant remember.
What a value as well, 2 12 oz shanks, toasted peanuts, great garnish of fried chinese egg noodles in a fan like seaweed made the plate really attractive.
The sauce was killer and I couldnt stop eating it til it was gone.
Nice staff, thanked the management

Nice property, classy restaurant

We had dinner there for my wifes birthday. We were seated upstairs in the masionette turned restuarant.
Very nice, plush, romantic.

Food was French style and overall very good. The entrees came with the best au gratin potatoes Ive had.

The food quality over all was 8 out of 10.

My problem was with the Duck Terrine, all capers, cornichons and olives on a mound of red leaf lettuce. 4 teaspoon sized quarters of pate for $10.50. I didnt even bother eating it and sent it back…Garnish of pate’ for almost $3 a bite, no thanks.

It took forever to have it replaced by a watercress soup and the server did some gymnastics with the bill giving me a dessert and a half rather tha taking the pate’ off the bill???

The wild salmon on puff pastry my wife had was exceptonal as was my grilled shrimp and scallops bearnaise (although it looked like buerre blanc with a tarragon reduction, not Hollandaise with tarragon as it is classically)

I thought the service was a bit distant as we poured our own wine, Estancia Pinot Noir, and waited forever to return the pate.

Desserts were good.

Overall a romantic place, real busy too for a Thursday night.

They must be doing something right!

I still dont get why people have to get on the cell phone during dinner, I did not need to hear the guy 4 feet from me discuss his net worth and try and shield his lips from my view, like I cared!!

Salmon, crab and basil on puff pastry

My only critique on this great dish was the water floating on the plate from the reheated brocolli and the carrots were way overcooked.

Malay OK

Nice menu, presentation, dining room. Cleam efficient service, although a little chilly.
Items did not come out together was my only gripe. I had almost fininshed my entree when the little womens came out.
Nice variety makes us sure we will come back!
Lots of Asian ethnicities, families…made us feel confident we were in for authentic fare.

BluWater Barf Bag

What an over rated bilge water barge on Lake Union.
Boring over priced menu, yuppies eating marshmallows, lame English Beat music, $9 Mojitos…
Bread came to the table looking like sliced sandwich bread with some light Kool-Aid looking dipping junk, drink orders, for 2 mind you, came out wrong.
$22. for pork chops, I dont think so, over priced boring , drab, regurgitated , everybody else’s menu…
Ordered the Ceviche with fresh chips, chips were cold, Halibut was marinated after it was smelly, server never came back to see how we were, had to go in myself to get her…
Did I mention the annoying music, we complained, nicely nothing was done?
God what a waste, people pay for this crud? Happy brain dead goups sat on the patio paying too much and loving it…
I thought I would wake up from this bad dream but didn’t.
Got money to burn and no sense of taste or quality? Bilge water bistro is for you..
We even complained, more like commented on the lame bread and the manager blamed the bus boy!
I am telling you , it was thick sliced sandwich bread, curled end pieces and all with some Nuc Mam looking fruity pebbles dipping sauce…I picked it up after the manager said it was fresh, smelled it and put it back down,,,dont insult me ,throw that crap to the birds!!
Yes we walked out and gave back the rancid seviche, paid for our drinks and farted in their general direction.
The server was nice and we actually came in on a promotion for their 10th birthday! We left her 35% on the drink, as we got off light for this disaster.

What a hoky intrepretation of ceviche. Chips werent fresh as the menu stated , they were cold, the halibut was way past its prime, smelled and tasetd like a potential for food poisoning, overpriced…we sent it back and left, thats how much we liked it

Forgetable experience

I forgot about eating here but I agree completely.
We got into a squabble about being charged for 2 rice when we received one. The server said that it depends on how many people at the table not the size of the portion (duh???)
The food was luke warm and English skills did not promote any answers on the finer points of the menu.
Definitely a glitzy shiney nothing special!
I remeber waves of cigarette smoke coming in from the back door, it was dirty and a poor example of our International districts places…Try Tai Tung, 663 Bistro….

Flavor hospitality and spice

Ate here several times in the past 2 years. Love the place the owner and the food.
Had a couple experiences where the portion size was meager and menu items were out.
Overall a great place, just a little burned out as we were such avid fans for a couple of years.

Service matters

We have spent a lot of time and money there but have stopped going because of the service. I don’t think that after 25 visits we got any face/favorite item recognition or warm and fuzzies.
We got skunked beer once, ordered carry out and it wasn’t even ready or working,
Sat in booths that the seats were falling out of, gagged at the incense and sat watching the owner eat while we had no service. The owner walks around in some inappropriate cloths (maybe for bed time?)
Walking by the kitchen and looking inside should have tipped me off that I should find another place.
Sorry to bash this old time favorite but my wife took a fall there and got her pants ruined and no one cared. We are not the suing crowd but have drawn the line at such insensitive, aloof, dizzy service, sporadic food quality and semi sleazy dress for the sake of an occasional good meal.
The food quality varies so greatly that a super stellar dish could be served like schlock on your next visit.
Highly un recommended!

Ate this dish every time we went there and the flavors ranged from great to muddy.
Dense server looks us right in the eye after 20 plus visits and has to grill us on our menu choice.

finger lickin good

We gave this restaurant another chance because of recent reviews, plus our other favorite Ethiopian place let us down.
The place is a stones throw from our pad and we loved dinner there last week.
The staff/owners were friendly even sharing their table roasted coffee with us after our meal.
The flavor and variety are excellent with deep roasted spices, multi dimensional flavors and “tribal’ fun eating with our hands!
We both though the portion was way adequate and we got more injera without adding $1.25 like some places.
I really liked it and had a great time.
Every once and a while at these style restaurants we get something spoiled on the plate and this was no exception with some funky frozen reheated string beans that had "gone south” Avoiding them didn’t matter as the rest was so good.
Very good and would probably appeal to the veg heads in the audience.

Mayururi, flavor , value, genuine

We had tried to eat here once before and got there when they were closed between lunch and dinner.
This time we came in at 1:30 and sat down to look at the menu and order ala carte.
The staff were dumbfounded we didn’t want the buffet and handed us menus that only had dinner items on it. There is no lunch ala carte menu apparently…
We ordered Lamb dishes, Vindaloo and Masala. They were both tasty and had nice portions. We like the little copper servers they used for each of our portions.
The Naan was the best we have had although getting some Tamarind sauce we needed a U.N Interpreter as English is not a prerequisite of employment.
We had a Mango Lassi and I had the Chai tea. The Lassi was good but the Chai had a 1 dimensional flavor probably from sitting on the heat since noon. It gave us both a black tea head ache.
Overall the food was authentic and people were gobbling up the lunch buffet. 5 95 to take with you and 7.95 to eat there. We watched one dude chow down, back and forth 5 or 6 times to the buffet. It was hard to figure why he wasnt a lot larger!
The service was the only drawback as communication was marginal.
