Went here for their sampler menu during Dine Out Vancouver 08’. From their selection, I’d have to say this was an above average menu. Good if you go in a group with varied taste. For specific cuisine types, there are other restaurants that would excel. The atmosphere was fine. Probably would have been better if it wasn’t night out as I couldn’t really appreciate the view it had. Service was great. Might go back to try their full menu.

Tried for the first time during Dine-Out Vancouver. Food was great. Atmosphere a little on the cold/modern side, but service was great. I like the presentation and the option to change the dine-out menu. Both entrees “Dr. Larry Albright’s Crispy Skinned Trout creamy Israeli cous cous, braised fennel, basil infused spot prawn broth” and “Herb Crusted Albacore Tuna white bean cassoulet, organic carrots, bacon froth” were done and presented well. Will go back to try their regular menu again.

Short review based on comparison to The Old Bavaria Haus. Schnitzels were a bit too oily. Sauces were less rich in flavor. And the atmosphere was not as warm

I’ve tried Guu on Thurlow several times the food was quite good. I’ve read many other comments saying the Guu on Robson was better… They were right.
The food quality was on par or better than Thurlow. But the main difference is the atmosphere. The place felt more open and alive.
I do have to admit that service was a little bit on the slow side. Taking the order and bring the drinks was slower than expected. I don’t know if it was just because it had just opened and was dealing with the first rush.
I tried about 7 dishes and the one I would skip ordering again would be the Oden. First time I tried it and nothing too special. Other dishes included (don’t know proper menu name) Shrimp with Avocado, Salmon Sashimi, Baked Mackerel, Baked Oyster, Calamari, Seafood Pancake. I especially liked the Sashimi, Pancake, and Calamari.
With 1 drink, total meal was about $46 for 2.
I would definitely go to this one again. But I still will try the Gastown one whenever I’m down that way.
Adding this one to my rotation.

Went this evening to try this restaurant once again. Last time I was here was probably at least 3 years ago. Had a Risotto that was quite good as a remember.
This very busy restaurant has a nice atmosphere and great service. Very attentive staff. I would recommend making reservations. My girlfriend and I didn’t make one, but was lucky enough to be squeezed in between reservations.
We started with the Seafood Antipasto. I don’t believe I’ve ever tried this before, but I’m glad I did tonight. Mussels, Calamari, and some Baby Shrimp. It was excellent.
My girlfriend had a Veal special that was not on the menu. I’m not much of a Veal person, but she it was great. Tender and full of flavor.
I, myself had the pasta special. A combination of one half Linguine with Pesto, and the other half Veal Ravioli on meat sauce. The pasta itself seemed to be cooked about right. I’m not much of a red sauce person and I would have to say it was fair. However, I can’t remember a pesto sauce tasting so rich and flavorful.
Prices are comparable to other Italian restaurants of this style. I had the Entertainment Coupon, but I would still recommend it if you didn’t.

This quaint 2 floor heritage home has been converted into a great restaurant. It also has a nice outside patio for the summer, though I’ve never sat outside.
Serves great appetizers and main. Their specialty are Schnitzels. On top of that Service is always great.
Typically I have the Oysters Rockefeller or Champignon “Au Gratin” for starters and one of the various schnitzels that they have for a main.

I'm a fan!
