Melanie's has everything - homestyle...
Melanie’s has everything – homestyle pan-Carribbean cooking dished out in tremendous portions, mostly for $6 – including baked chicken, oxtail stew, and curried or jerk everything; super-creamy pumpkin, spinach, and eggplant; a huge menu of quirky juices each claiming to fix one or another chronic medical condition; and an assortment of baked goods like currant bread. Even the okra was just about perfect. The sides, rice, and main courses tend to be crammed into a foil takeout container, even if they’re to stay (six or seven comfortably spaced tables line the side of the store, which is essentially one long counter) – but you can’t go wrong here.
