Great!

I went to Thai Pepper last night for dinner and it was fantastic! I got the spicy noodle with chicken (although ordered it mild) and it was just like pad see ew. The service was very nice, quick, and accommodating. There was no wait for a table of 2 on a weekend. If I am ever in Ardmore, PA I would definitely come again!

Large portion and delicious, although somewhat pricey. However, the price was comparable with that of many Thai entrees elsewhere.

Decent

I was very disappointed by my meal from New Plum Tree Garden. I had been very excited to find another Thai restaurant in the area and ordered Pad See Ew and Tom Kha soup from the lunch menu. Unfortunately, both left something to be desired. The Pad See Ew tasted nothing like any Pad See Ew I had ever ordered before (and I have ordered it a lot…it is usually one of my favorites). It tasted more like Chow Fun, and even for that standard was not very good. The Tom Kha soup also tasted a bit off. I had read in their reviews that they do better with their Chinese dishes, and am thinking that might be true.

On the plus side, my order was ready fairly quickly (they said 5-10 minutes…it was more like 15 but still decent), the staff was very friendly, and the volume was tremendous. The serving size of Pad See Ew and Tom Kha soup were both very generous. Also, they gave me a side of crispy noodles and fortune cookies.

While this run was disappointing, I would like to try them again for their red, green, or panang curry. However, I would definitely only test out at lunch time as it is considerably cheaper (only about $6 for an entree!). Will report back with more news…

The Pad See Ew did not taste right. For one thing, it was not sweet at all, and for another seemed to have no Thai spices…it might have passed for Chow Fun (or Ho Fun which they have on their menu), but not as a Thai dish. However, it was a very generous portion and at least for a lunch portion was a very good price.

I was not impressed with this soup, especially since I recently had it from another Thai restaurant nearby that was a lot better. It seemed like it was watered down. On the plus side, it was a generous serving. Also, the price was right.
