A good meal. Service was a little slow, and their stingy with drinks, but it was good food at a good value, and “real” Mexican, a la Hernando’s and the like.

One of the things that stood out was the use of beef flank instead of ground beef – made for a much heartier feel to the meals.

This is, without a doubt, the best steak in Toronto under $30. I’d have to go back to Le Castille to compare, but given that their meat is more than double what the Tulip charges, Tulip is, without a doubt, the best steak for the money. Period.

And that doesn’t even take into account their incredible dessert selection. Literally everything they serve on the menu is “best in class”. GO.

huge portions! be warned. :)

I’ve only had the Montreal smoked meat sandwich (traditional style meat, “Fat”, on rye) for an entree, which was as good as they come. Appetizers are positively huge, grease-pit diner quality, especially unique offerings like their egg-roll sized cheese sticks, or plate-full poutine with smoked meat added. Practically a meal for two!

This is, by far, the best quality Teppanyaki restaurant for the price anywhere in Toronto. Sure, for a lot more elsewhere, you can get one hell of a show, but the food wouldn’t be much better, and the service is excellent. We’ve brought perhaps 10+ people or couples here, and I’ve never had anyone leave unimpressed.

Their fixed-course dinners include Tuna/Cucumber sushi, Miso soup, salad, vegetables and fried rice on the Teppan, and your choice of two meats. Vegitarian options available, as are a plethora of sushi options, appetizers, and Teppan-cooked accompanyments. One of my favourite is an excellently-prepared Beef Sashimi. They finish your meal with ice cream.

The base dinner is only about $17/person, and the service has always been top notch.

T&C is sort of a mixed bag. If you go early, the food is quite good, be it for brunch or dinner – they have a failry large selection, including a salad bar, two hot food buffets, carvery, taco/nacho bar, and a wrap-around dessert and pastry offering – however, they do not do a good job of caring for food after the first few hours.

Go early, when the food is fresh, and you’ll have a blast. :)

Golden Griddle Family Restaurant

One of the few restaurants in Toronto to offer Weekday Breakfast buffet. Food was acceptable, though no bacon (Isn’t that pretty much required for a breakfast buffet), and no toaster, you had to request each item you wanted toasted.

Otherwise, they served standard breakfast fare (pancakes, eggs, sausages, homefries, hash browns, french toast, pastries), with a very slight amount of brunch fare (mainly salads and the like).

Suitable breakfast, but I wouldn’t call it a “brunch” buffet, unlike their weekend offering.
