Great Menu Items, DON'T STRAY!

I have dined here several times and find the menu items to be fantastically prepared and good value for the money. Having been to Thailand, the cuisine is close to authenitc with only a few substitutions for items hard to get seasonally here in the States.

However, I made the mistake of ordering what was totuted as a special – Kobe Steak. I have had Kobe Steak before. THIS WAS NOT KOBE STEAK or if it was it was the absolute dregs! Kobe Steak is fine grained and very tender, this piece was course, muscular, and very tough. The piece was supposed to be medium prepared and it came out well done and had about 40% blubbery FAT on it. It was not tasty but was the tecture of cardboard and tasted very bland. Hard to believe since it came with such a “generous” portion of fat still attached to it! I was not given a knife (as would be expected with a REAL piece of Kobe Steak, it can be cut with the edge of your fork or with your butter knife, no such luck with this piece! The waiter had to fumble into the kitchen to get me a kitchen knife). They rocked me for $35.00!!! I have had far better cuts of generic steak for half of that price! I was ripped off and I do not know why given the high quality and value prices of most other selections!

All I can say is to stay away from the specials, especially steak based ones! Very disappointing! Shame on trying to pump up profits by serving such inferior cuts of meat and trying to pass it off as Kobe Steak!

Dishes I tried:

"Kobe" (not it's real name...) Steak Special

Awful! See above!

Waiter got tipped 20%, it wasn’t his fault that the kitchen and the owner snookered me!

Food about as average as it gets

Service poor and disorganized every time my party and I went there. I guess it is a place to be on the southside but most certainly not because of anything great with the food. We went there several times, thinking that each new time the bad service would self correct. It never did. Missed orders, late orders, some people in our party got served their main course while others waited 15 or more minutes for theirs. After awhile it just seemed like one big fuster cluck. The waiters I had to deal with seemed aloof every time, like the could not be bothered. The food? eh…

Lot’s of TV though…go for the comraderie, beer, snacks, and to watch a sports event, nothing more.

Negative Experience Lesson for us...and them...

Ate at Confetti Cafe with my family a number of years back so the review is not valid for today other than to say that your first negative experience at any restaurant is usually your last…

We got a basket of bagel chips and started digging in to find that there were half eaten pineapple rinds in the bagel chip mix. Now what does that tell you? Someone else got served the chips, didn’t eat them all, threw their rinds from some other dish into the basket, the waiter picked it up without looking and threw more chips on tiop and re-served it to us. Yeeeccch! Besides that, it is definitely a health violation! We called attention to the matter and we got neutral looks from the waiter and the manager wioth an, ooops, sorry… It was deliberate! They were trying to economize their chip ration and it was probably standard practice to re-use uneaten chips!!!

We laugh about that to this day and steer clear of this place no matter how good it might be. There are other good restaurants on the same street. Just a mental thing! GROSS!!!

BTW, tip was ZERO! No choice for that option in the drop down menu

Suberbly Brewed Beer - period!

Rating is for Beer only. Far too many high calorie fried food offerings for my tastes. Definitely lower class unhealthy bar food in my estimation. I go here to have their premises brewed beer, period! If I am going to do something “unhealthy and highly caloric” let it be the beer…!

Savory Dishes, Reasonable Prices, Good Atmosphere

I find this restaurant to be a sleeper amongst many others that are discussed in the area. I am not sure why. The dishes are very well prepared, savory, with some unique twists, and at very reasonable prices. The wait staff is very professional and the chef is very accomodating to special requests. There is a half portion sunset menu before 6pm and a lunch menu. My parties and I have never been disappointed after dining here. I always feel satisfied and my wallet not as empty as with similar offerings elsewhere.

You will find a full complement of fish, fowl, beef, pork and the soups are quite tasty. The appetizers are generous and they actually know how to make iced tea, unlike the swill you often get elsewhere. Some good brews are offered as well.

The wait staff is extremely attentive but not overbearing and know how to do their jobs. Our particular waitress, Vicki, was very good at her job. We often rate the staff and we give her five stars!

A generous portion, extremely tasty, excellent side accompaniments. You want to slow down and savor each bite.

The generous appetizer was an angel hair pasta with olive oil, crab meat, tomatoes….mmm, got to go back soon.
They use a very pungent rye bread in their onion soup which gives it a very pleasant tasty twist and character.

Last chance place to go...

Even though smoking is banned at most places, my prior experiences of this place leave the sense of one licking an ashtray. Dirty, stark, not very inviting. Last stop choice for me. The clientele tend to leave the impression that they are coming down off of a drinking session

Closed

Closed! Started out promising and like the closed Damons on Airport Rd (now Copperhead Grille) became a terrible place to eat. I hear it had to do with either the owner or the manager who was referred to as a complete asshole.

Some unique preparations, but the "ho hum" ribeye...?

I’m not quite sure where the excess salt comments come in on the first reviewers comments. Sure, there are three types of salt at the table, two are spiced up (sure your partner didn’t put excess salt in your meal when you weren’t looking?).

The twisted deviled eggs and the Ancho Chili & Red Bell Pepper Cheese Torte were outstanding. The chopped salad the Bistro “BLT” salads were good but unremarkable. The BLT could have used some bleu cheese chunks and could have been applied more liberally, the dressing seemed bottled. The chopped salad was mostly lettuce, very few salad fixins.

My spouse had the chicken dish wrapped in bacon with a small portion of lager on the side. She enjoyed it and it was rather tasty with hints of bacon throughout the chicken, not just on the surface.

We shared the funny bone dessert which was quite tasty and tasted just like a hopped up and improved version of a funny bone.

We will go back. I will skip the steak offerings.

Very tasty cuisine

Sogo’s food is, without a doubt, very well prepared fusion cuisine biased towards seafood, sushi and sashimi. There are also offerings for the non-
seafood lover but these are somewhat limited and rather skimpy in proportion. As I stated, the food is prepared better than good but I think that Sogo is starting to take its press clippings a bit too seriously. Their prices are starting to peak out to the point where I seriously doubt that I will be back. What galled me the most at the last sitting was that they charged for every serving of iced tea – 9 glasses for a total of over $25! Their server also did NOT listen when we ordered dessert. Rather than inform us that certain desserts were unavailable and allowing us to choose again, she rudely sustituted desserts of her choosing. We found out only after partaking. She appeared to be dismissive of our comments. These desserts were higher priced than I had remembered the last time we dined there.

This place is on the leading edge of getting snooty with their offerings for price. It is becoming like a few other restaurants in the Lehigh Valley area who have totally blown their value for price ratios. Well prepared food also has its price limits! It is not an elastic concept. Do not get me wrong, the food is quite good. How much are you willing to pay though?

Again, beware the upcharges for each additional glass of beverage! I tipped down accordingly! What was supposed to be a carefree birthday celebration at a place we had all dined at before and had returned to for this occasion, had turned into a less than stellar experience with me, the bill payer, feeling ripped off.. We will most likely not be back. with so many other great choices in the Valley of late!

I am amazed that a place like this will risk folks not returning by such pricing behaviors. Competition is fierce in this industry to risk ricky tick behavior in any way. BYO Beverages when you go!
