It can get pretty busy, so its not a good place to bring large groups. It has the standard variety of rolls, nigiri and sashimi from the bar. Some of the bento boxes are a bit pricey, but I am all over the katsudon bowls which seem cheap (around $5) compared to the amount of food that comes in them. Also, their loose leaf green tea is great, made better by the fact that it comes at no extra charge.

This place is small. Went on a Saturday night for happy hour, and our group had to be split into two. The place was packed and it took a while to get our order filled and get our drinks after our order was taken. On a positive note. The food was great and cheap for happy hour. We tried a variety of empanadas ($2 HH price), butterflied shrimp with garlic ($5 HH) and something else which I think were taro croquettes. Oh yeah, and the cause of the delay and crowd was the $2 mojitos that night.

Cash only! The food is cheap! Similar dishes in chinatown are priced $2-3 higher than 663. Although the dishes are cheap the quality is on par and in some cases surpasses their neighboring cousins. Some of their dishes have a European influence (Portuguese via Macau).

Two dishes can easily feed four. We usually get the Tomato Beef Chow Fun, the Cod and Cream Corn over rice, or the Minced Pork with Green Beans.

Cash only. Very clean. Hardly any wait.

The portions are huge. I have only sampled two main dishes off the menu. The BBQ chicken and the Chicken Katsu. BBQ chicken was mediocre, could find much better versions at any of the numerous teriyaki places around town. The katsu? Well, I’ve driven all the way up to Lynnwood for their katsu. I haven’t found any other place that matchs it. Their spam musubi was over priced. But 3 stars for the katsu alone. I am going to try their loco moco next.

This coffee thief regularly steals my money away. The baristas are consistent across the different locations, regularly serving high quality drinks. The bakery case can get pretty bare, but that is fine, since I am usually there to get my coffee fix.

I’ve been to four locations: W. Seattle, Downtown, Fremont and C.Hill.

Downtown is my least favorite, Fremont most convenient, C.Hill favorite. The latter two are good study spots and offer free WiFi.

This French bakery is crazy delicious. Their breakfast and lunch specials are ridiculous. The $4 breakfast special gets you a double tall latte or drip coffee pair with any of their freshly baked croissants. The prix fixe lunch menu lets you select one drink, sandwich and pastry for $9.

The bakery is about a minute walk from the Eastlake bridge, across from the UW campus. They may have free WiFi as well.

The best sandwiches in Seattle. I first heard...

The best sandwiches in Seattle. I first heard of this place three years ago by word of mouth. When I first tried to go to the restaurant, I couldn’t find it on Fremont Ave. There is no sign on the storefront. It turns out it was closed that day. When I came by when it was open, you could tell that it didn’t need a sign, since there was a line of people out the door.

I have yet to try their dinner combinations but have sampled nearly all the sandwiches ($7ish), except for their new cuban press sandwiches.

From what I remember, there are TWO pork sandwiches. I think one is pork shoulder and the other is called something else… but the pork sandwich that was once called the “Midnight Cuban Sandwich” is the better of the two. Oh, and don’t confuse it with the new relatively new “Midnight Cuban Press.”

There are two seafood sandwiches, prawn and fish. Of these two, I found the fish to be better, both had similar flavor, except the prawns had a tendency to jump out of the sandwich, the fish fillet contently let me devour it.

There is also a tofu sandwich, which I found very similar to the fish, except its tofu.

There are TWO chicken sandwiches, I believe one is off menu now. The chicken sandwich listed is chicken breast. I found that really flat and dry, by far the worst sandwich I’ve sampled. However, the chicken thigh sandwich, which I didn’t see on the menu board, but was able to order the last time I went, nearly rivals the sandwich formerly named “Midnight Cuban.” It once was $1 cheaper as well.

Save time by calling ahead, and note that they sometimes run out of sandwiches around 7:00pm. Also if you get an order to go, make sure to request a side of corn. The corn is a given when you dine in, but is an opt in, on to-go orders. Expect to wait 20 mins for your food when busy.

Open till about 2:00 am on Friday/Saturday. It is a nice place to grab a slice after going out on Cap Hill. Line is usually out the door. Pesto Pizza. There can be some seats outside if it is packed inside. Sometimes boxes are strewn around outside, but pesto pizza. I’ve gone during the day when sober, and still, pesto pizza. yes. $2.50 – $3.50 a slice, I think.

My first trip to Dahlia Lounge was for my HS senior prom when it was still located at its old location (the current Toi), and have been back many times for special occasions.

The dining room is warm and has nice lighting, plus other nice small touches around the room. I want to fill my pockets with the candies from the entrance. The menu rotates, but in the past, out of all the restaurants I’ve dined in, at Dahlia I have had the best steak and duck dishes, ever. My girlfriend has had the best oysters at Dahlia (though, I think they all taste like the ocean). Their tenderloin pork wasn’t so tender when I sampled it one time, and due to the rotating menu, I haven’t found that steak again, but I’ve always left happy. They are known desserts as well, and operate an adjoining bakery.

The only major demerit that would knock a star off would be because one time my card was charged for not only my dinner, but an adjoining table. To make matters worse, the other table’s bill was about three times my bill! Everything was eventually straightened out, and I believe it was only due to their EFT system being down for the night.

Otherwise, the food, atmosphere and the service is excellent.

I have been there many times for brunch. I usually rotate between Flora, the Pelican, Portage Bay and Julia’s.

Flora is very vegan and veggie friendly, not so friendly to bacon and sausage. There are two dining areas, both offer tons of natural light which gives the whole place a warm feel.

The menu is seasonal and seems to rotate frequently, said for a few staples. All of the dishes are plenty flavorful, I think due to the lack of meat as a crutch. A safe bet is the breakfast burrito. I think the brunch dishes top out at around $15.

Like many breakfast/brunch places, the wait can be a while, especially for parties over two. Parking can also be a bit of a pain, though they do have a small parking lot in the back.

It is most certainly a place to frequent.
