Downtown Chinese/ Burmese place not to be missed

Top rate place where I am never disapointed. Have not had too many experiences with Burmese food, but everything here has been fantastic. See below for favorites. I came here with a group of 12 friends who had never been before and all of them raved about my choice! DO NOT pass up the coconut rice!

What I ate:
  • *****

FANTASTIC. A little sweet and perfect w/ nearly every item on the menu

  • ****

Approachable and great paired with a more unique Burmese dish.

  • ****

Burmese flavors which are spicy and different. Completely unique. Try it!

California Pizza Kitchen

go there for the salads!

I know, I know. It’s California PIZZA Kitchen, but I swear the best things on their menu are the salads and starters.

What I ate:
  • *****

I usually order the half-sized salad for lunch…it is delicious. The ingredients are perfect: Chopped lettuce, black beans, sweet corn, jicama, cilantro, basil, crispy corn tortilla strips and Monterey Jack cheese tossed together in a garden-herb ranch dressing. Topped with chopped BBQ chicken breast, diced tomatoes and scallions. It’s kinda healthy, crunchy and flavorful.

sit and the bar and enjoy

The owners Ewa and Masa will take very good care of you here. Just sit at the bar ask them for their suggestions, and you will be happy. Wonderful sake selection, unique first courses look like a French chef was preparing them. Best sushi on the peninsula in a very casual setting.

all soufle all the time

so many choices of soufle, it was hard to decide. my date and i chose a savory and a sweet and had a difficult time finishing the wonderful food. the room is very small with few tables; the service is great and not hovering, which allows you to enjoy every spoonful. a great treat of a place that will certainly get my repeat business.

awesome atmosphere, good apps

go for drinks and apps at the crowded bar, or on a nice evening, sit in the open air part of the restaurant. great place for a first-date – with lots to distract you! The spicy food is good, or try the salads, if you don’t love cajun.

great tapas and sangria

I love sitting at the old school bar and munching on tapas and sipping sangria. See the list below for some great tapas choices. Funny thing: This place was formerly a British place a while ago and you might find some thing on the tapas menu that reflect that. Be warned that this restaurant adds a 19% service charge to ALL checks not just large parties.

What I ate:
  • *****

    excellent bite of heaven

  • *****

you can’t eat enough of these tiny scones that are a throw-back to the time this place was a british pub-style restaurant

Andale Mexican Restaurant

great mexican takeout in Downtown PA

I’m a native Texan always on the lookout for decent authentic Mexican food. While I don’t love everything on the menu, and the rice and beans aren’t exactly like my mom makes, this place is not bad. I repeatedly come here for my favorite dish: the Chicken Salad (also reviewed). It’s just good.

What I ate:
  • *****

Perfectly seasoned chicken on a bed of greens w/ avocado, goat cheese and tomatoes w/ a vinagrette…eating pretty healthy should always be this good!
