PAUL ENZO'S A OLD WORLD ITALIAN DELIGHT

If you are looking for an old world Italian experience in the suburbs, Paul Enzo’s is the place to “monja”. The atmosphere, while smaller, and more crampted than I anticipated, is reminicent of days gone by. But it works in that it is decievingly inviting. The service was attentive, and helpful., although if the hostess, who was no spring chicken and should have known better, could have been friendlier and more accomadating. The red sauce, which is how I rate my Italian eateries, is very reminicent of my grandmother’s homemade Sunday best. It worked well with the Lasagne, or Raviolli, and even plain ole spegehetti. The highlight of the place however, is their Thursday Night Neck Bone special. Neck bones are a pork Sicilian delicacy, that was basically a peasant food, that was used to have some kind of cheap meat to include in their sauce. It is rare to find this item on anyone’s menu, let alone a featured special. They are messy to eat. You really have to get down and dirty to really enjoy them. But … they flavor the sauce with a sweetness unlike any other meat. Enzo’s know how to properly prepare them, and the all you can eat benefit is an amazing twist. The price is right also $9.99! Overall as a total experience I give Enzo’s 4 stars, as the food, was great (5), the service was good(4), the ambience was OK (3), and the hostess just annoys me. (I hope she is a relative so she can keep her job, well …)

BEST GYROS AROUND

I have been going to this little restaurant for some 15 or so years. They have the BEST gyros in the suburbs. When I moved out here, I thought I wouldn’t find a place to rival the great greek places in Chicago. I was very happy, and still am, dine here very regularly. I have had other things on the menu rarely, because I can’t get enough of the gyros. Give it a try. You’ll be highly impressed!
