Great new Pizza Place in Carson City
There are few restaurants that actually get me excited about their opening. Brugo’s Pizza Company and Bistro is one of them. Located on the north side of Carson, this place fills the void of any upscale eating establishments that were present here. Sure we have Glen Eagles, but the excitement has passed for this place, that is unless you’re over 55. Not that there’s any thing wrong with this, but the younger (under 55), vibrant, up and coming, upscale people in this town need something new. Being located next door to Starbucks should generate lots of foot traffic, and thus business for Brugo’s. The place has been open since March 1, 2008, so their just getting started.
If you don’t want to eat your pizza at the restruant, they have a Take and Bake option, with a $1.50 discount.
I have eaten there 3-4 times and can tell you, the food is outstanding. Having transplanted myself from the Bay Area food scene, I have, tasted really great food, pizza included and I can be really critical at times. The combinations of speciality pizzas sound fantastic. Of course you can create your own from the many toppings. What I find really nice here, is you can choose your type of crust AND 3-4 different sauces. My two favorites so far are the pesto and house special roasted garlic white sauce. I can definitly say, this is THE BEST pizza I have had in my life. Deep dish Chicago style not included. This style is not offerd here, as Brugo’s seems to be trying to stay true to the Itailian traditional style. Recently I had the pleasure of having lunch here and trying one of their Hot Ciabatta sandwiches. Oh my GAWD, what a tasty treat that was! But pizza and food are only part of what they have to offer, there is an extensive wine list and many imported beers. Most definitely this is an adult pizza and hang out place.
The decor is definitly modern bistro, with outdoor seating in back. I’ve posted pictures here. Check this place out for something new! Brugo’s is open Mon-Sat 10am till 9pm and Sun 10am- 8:30pm.

Chrissy's Pizza Large
The pizza was one of the best I have had. The filling were plentiful and cheese was tasty as was the crust. The real test is the crust!

The Best Pizza comes to Reno!
Alright! my most fav pizza place has come to Reno! Now , I don’t have to go to Carson to get my fix. Well, I still go to Carson since the BF is there, but thats how I found out about Brugo’s! I just luv the 1/2 off wine nights on Wednesdays! They have some new sandwiches on this menu… They have some real cute servers there too…boys and girls. The thing I like about this place too, is the lack of screaming kids, its a nice place to unwind and hell, just drink wine and get some appitizers. I think a much better experience then the cattle call over at the Claim Jumper. Brugo’s is most def not the cheapest pizza place around….but then again its not a “pizza joint” that you just “grab” a quick fix of carbs. Check it out and have a relaxing adult experience. The new sandwiches are a killer deal!

Chrissy special
THis is my fav pizza here! Ask for the thin crust!

NOT WORTH THE MONEY
I just can’t get excited about this place. I’ve been several times at lunch and 2 times for dinner. It costs a lot for what you get. Lotes of crepes for lunch, kinda like pancakes! and dinner is way expensive, rather go to Adel’s which is not really saying much. The decor need to be more formal if you are going to charge those kind of prices.

Save you money and go to Reno!
OK, I went here on a date and it was supposed to be romantic, but alas it was not to be. The service was slow and reading all those specials when you have like 10 of then makes no sense at all. I couldn’t remember half of them, why don’t they print a menu each day. The food was not up to the standards required of a top class place, maybe I’m just used to a high class place, as this Carson City is pretty podunk. Save your money til you get to Reno!
The food was really just plain, I’v had better at macaroni Grill!
Dishes I tried:
Salmon
It was just salmon with a sauce that WAS suppose to be wow in my mouth wonderful, but it was just plain!

OK I had to try it- AND IT WAS BAAAD
The fish to rice ratio is all rice little fish, so there you go. The mexican chefs didn’t seem to speak english very good either which made ordering difficult. and the place is crowded, can’t figure why? Maybe jsut the tourists. The best place is Sushi Club on Moana, thats where the locals go! The peole watching scenery is better here if you know what I mean! Glad one of my BFs was paying! This place is a rip!
Dishes I tried:
All-You-Can-Eat Sushi
Well, what can I say? It was terriable and would never go back, even if I didn’t have to PAY!

Christmas Dinner Buffet Special
OK, one of the things I have noted about restos in general, is that they never get BETTER with the passage of time. When have you, actually gone to a place over time and have it get better over the years. Well, this special Christmas dinner they have here every year is an example of just that. Last year the food was great and I would rave about it. I really looked forward to coming again this year. I was sorely dissapointed. One of the main reasons I picked to come here instead of my many other choices in the Reno area, was the fact that they offered all you can eat rack of lamb at the buffet. Now I can get many places all you can eat crab legs, prawns and steak, but you NEVER see rack of lamb! Last year the quality was great with all of the offerings. They were gourmet sit down resto quailty. This year the food really sucked! The lamb was all over cooked and dry. Last year I was able to get the server at the lamb station to just give me a whole rack, as it was all you can eat anyhow. This year they refused to do it. I’m not sure if it was a language barrier or not, but the attendent barly spoke english, wish I spoke Mexican! Get employees that speak fluently english PLEASE! esp. if they are to be interacting with the public and customers. On top of all that they ran out of the lamb, half way through the dinner! The crab cakes that were good last year were all dry and the steaks were all over cooked! I realize this is a buffet, but last year they pulled it off just fine! Now for the service, or shall I say lack of. Our server didn’t even come by our table to get our drink orders till after we had visited the buffet twice already! Then he was not around much to refill the drinks. He sure came fast with the bill though! I can’t see that the food or service at the regular dinner times (non-buffet) would be any better. The price of the buffer was $35 a person. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE, there are many other choices in RENO! I WILL NEVER COME TO THIS AWFUL PLACE AGAIN!
Dishes I tried:
Rack of Lamb
It was over cook and dried out and was not all you can eat as advertised! A rip!

pass on this place...
The food is just your typical generic americanized Italian looking food. No real Italian flavors and herbs coming thru in subtel tastes. Cheese and bread mostly. The main reason I would not ever go here is its just a little too kid friendly, you know, children running wild unrestrsained ,but uncaring parents not concerned as to what the children are doing to the rest of the people trying to enjoy their meal, which thay are paying for with their hard earded money! And all the SCREEECHING racket the children make! The place has turned into a Chuckee- Cheese! Go across the street to the Basil for a real adult meal. If you have children, TRAIN them please, or they will be the future low lifes of this town!
Dishes I tried:
Lasagna Classico
toom much nodles and not enough meat. Also the center was cold and was sent back, thus a reheated entree….
