Excellent Korean Food!

SO much better than your typical Chinese Fare. Dishes from Bulgogi, (Korean Teriyaki Beef), Kimchee Ji Gi, Mandu, (Korean Dumplings), Pan Jun, (Scallion Pancakes), Chicken Tempura with a Honey Glaze…all the different kinds of Kimchee with every meal, Bi Bim Bob…you really can’t go wrong.

When a Korean Restaurant is filled with happy Koreans, you know you have a good thing. Near Fort Devens in Ayer, MA…a MUST try!

Don't blink...you'll miss it.

Ever go to a restaurant that serves LOTS of great food, but you seem to find yourself ordering the same one or two things every time? Yeah…Slattery’s is no exception.

On a busy street corner of Lunenburg St in Fitchburg MA, you will probably drive right by it for the 1st time. A dimly lit sign on the side of the building is all you’ll see. The front entrance is a bar…and the side/rear entrance is the dining room.

Once inside, you’ll find a decent sized dining room…with a bar of its own.

Staff is friendly and courteous…and for the most part, very attentive to their tables.

The atmosphere is cozy and you can sip on some cocktails while waiting. Even Keno is available for you gamblers.

World Famous! Well, that is what the menu says…if the world COULD try them, I am sure they would be! This appetizer is the best! And prepare to share with about 2-4 of your friends as the mound of zucchini is high. They’re lightly deep fried in a perfect batter of bread crumbs…and come with a side of creamy horseradish sauce. They are really good, so be sure to try them. Of everyone that I introduced to this appetizer, everyone has enjoyed them.

A really great entree…

You’ll be introduced to a huge bowl of pasta, chicken and broccoli sauteed in Olive Oil with a garlic all around. I’ve tried other similar dishes at other places, but Slattery’s still as the best. This dish is 2 meals easily.

Salt to taste is the only advice here. Sometimes it needs just a little.

Who doesn’t love a deep fried chicken cutlet?! This one is sure to please too. Served on a toasted slab of French bread…with lettuce, tomato, onion and Russian Dressing.

The only reason it gets 4 stars is unfortunately it comes with potato chips and a pickle. In fact, I think all their sandwiches come like that…for another $2 you can get their hand-cut fries…which are pretty good, but not great.

Homemade pasta...

Hmmm…I read some poor reviews on this restaurant here, but I’ve never left there feeling anything less than satisfied with my meal.

The Staff won’t top the charts on “Friendliest Staff Ever”, but they suffice…and even when busy are still pretty good at attending to their respective sections.

They do have a Cash Only Policy and you’re lucky to get in there without seeing a line of people.

There are several other Italian Choices in the Leominster area, but this one should not be overlooked. Give it a whirl, I think you’re gonna love it.

This is clearly not the healthiest meal on the menu, but hey, it’s ok to splurge once in a while, right?

This chicken cutlet is showcased in a lemon butter sauce that is to die for! Side that with a plate of their homemade pasta or gnocchi and red sauce…and ask for a meatball on the side! Don’t forget the grated Parmesan too. Now, that is good eats.

The pre-meal salad and italian bread is your typical fare…and nothing to write home about.

But have your pen and paper ready after the entree is finished and start writing home!

I don’t get there often, so it’s difficult for me to get anything but this dish.

An Erie Favorite as long as I can remember...

Erie is my hometown…while I don’t live there anymore, I still remember Patti’s Pizza.

I remember when the East Side Patti’s Pizza used to be a tiny hole in the wall right off a grocery store called ‘Paul Bunyan’s’. Carry-Out only at the time…and you could get a Cheese Pizza for less than $5.

I remember my dad bringing Patti’s home quite often…it was cheap, good and the family loved it.

For the most part, the two items we ate the most was Pepperoni pizza…and pepperoni balls.

What is a pepperoni ball you ask?

Small pieces of deep fried dough with pepperoni in the middle. A recent trip to visit my hometown revealed they now sell pizza balls too…

These balls are SO good.

(There is a joke in there somewhere… *ahem)

Whenever anyone in my family gets back to Erie, they make sure to stop in and get some of that great pizza. Even bring home frozen ones to bake in the oven…

Best pizza I’ve ever had to date…hands down.

The pizza sauce is perfect…always a great amount of toppings…the crust is somewhere between thick and thin…and always crispy and delicious. Still reasonably priced, even after all these years.

I think these are still less than a buck each. Maybe even two for a buck if I remember correctly.

Like Fried Dough? Like Pepperoni? Like Pepperoni Pizza?

All of these rolled into one, beautiful, deep fried creation. Make sure to get a 3-pack of ‘em and don’t share ‘em…they’re just too good.

Chinese and Japanese...

My GF turned me on to this place…in fact our 1st date was at this place.

She had been dining there for some time…and we’ve eaten there together quite often as well.

Whether it’s Sashimi, Sushi or Chinese Food, you really can’t find a dish that isn’t fresh and delicious.

I’d say the Japanese dishes are better than the Chinese however.

The staff is great…courteous, friendly and very attentive.

Like Steak-n-Cheese?

Ya gotta stop at this place in Acton, MA. This sub is awesome…They have tons of specialty subs…including some great Chicken Subs like “the Buster”…but I prefer simple SteaknCheese with Mushrooms and Onions…maybe some pickles once in a while Be sure to grab a little salt and pepper too.

Other than 4 stools in the front of the place, ya can’t dine here…so be sure wherever you end up trying to eat this thing, you’re sitting down with a plate and some napkins. (I tried eating this thing on the road and ended up wearin’ more sub than I could eat). It can get a little sloppy if ya leave it for too long…as the fresh bread is SO soft, it will sop up the grease from the real beef quickly…

And if you can eat a large, you’re a better person than I. Even the Mini-Sub is substantial!

Other than that sub…I’ve had the pizza…slices are huge and very tasty!

If you’re driving by them on Route 2 and you don’t stop in, you missed out.

They’ve got some other places (owned by the brothers if I’m not mistaken), but haven’t been to those. Menus look similar so I can’t imagine they’re too far off.

Nostalgic Diner will take you back...

Actually a pretty good sized dining room…which makes you think of the ol’ school diners you’d see in the 50’s. (I am not that old, but c’mon, I watch Time Life and the Food Channel, lol)

Staff make you feel like a regular, whether you are one or not. Service is always impeccable. Food comes out quickly, but not too quickly.

I’ve mostly had breakfast here…and thankfully, their breakfast is very good. Had lunch a few times as well, and the burgers, dogs and fries are good too.

They run a lot of specials where you can get some really great deals. Sometimes a decent breakfast for $3.00…or if it’s Red Sox or Patriots Season, they’ll run a HotDog or Burger deal that is too good to pass up!

Just about everything on the menu was memorable. From the pancakes, to the eggs, home fries, hash browns (my fave!), bacon, kielbasa…whatever they’re serving, you’ll eat and be very satisfied.

Coffee is probably the least memorable item…which is too bad…a really great cup of coffee would push this into a 4.5 stars for sure.
