One of the brothers...
Visited this spot today…and while the place is tiny, the food it not.
I did another review on Carl’s Brother’s place in Acton, MA called T.C.Lando’s:
http://www.menuism.com/restaurants/cHFvr0jR8r245yabBlKsEs-tc-landos-sub-pizzeria-acton-ma
…there is another brother in Leominster with a place called Tory’s, but haven’t been to that one.
…and if I had to give the edge one way or the other, it would be with T.C.’s.
However, if you’ve had the Steak N Cheese at one of these places, you’ve had one at the other. Really loaded Steak Sub, with soft, fresh bread…and any fixings you’re heart desires. Well…your mouth desires…your heart might object to some of their meaty-cheesy subs!
Carl’s does not have pizza like T.C.‘s does…but they do have Burritos. (Which I think T.C. is planning on doing if they haven’t already).
If you’re anywhere near the Waltham area…hit it up and give it a go. I’ve met few who didn’t care for their subs…
…most people would beat up those that didn’t.

Great Pho
I suppose if your name says it, it better be good…and here, it is. The Pho is very good…always piping hot…and hits the spot during these cold New England Days and Nights. The Spring Rolls are quite delicious too. The Chicken with Rice Noodles and Veggies are a great dish too! The Staff is always courteous and friendly.
Dishes I tried:
Pho, the #23
I like my Pho with just the rare steak…although I know of many that enjoy it with the works, (IE Tendon, Rare Steak, Tripe, etc). Very good broth, great amount of noodles…and the veggies are just the right amount.

First Time
So I visited this place for the 1st time today…off a referral from some of my friends who used to work in the area.
The place looks small from the outside, but once inside, you’ll notice a place to order, a full bar and a dining room to seat about 50 people.
The menu itself is very simple and looks like it could use a modern makeover, but the food was excellent…especially the infamous burrito I kept hearing about.
What the staff lacks in English skills, they made up for in making sure your order is accurate and the burrito well packed with fresh fixings…the cashier was friendly and organized.
Dishes I tried:
Burrito
I will give this burrito a 5-star for now, but if I was more of a burrito connoisseur, I might have enough comparison to give it a more accurate rating…who knows, maybe it would still be a 5. For the burritos I’ve had in the past which don’t amount to many, this one blew them away.
Your choice of Ground Beef, Chicken, Fish, Pork or Steak…with toppings ranging from 3 types of Salsa, (Corn, Tomato and Spicy), Jalapenos, Guacamole, Lime-Cilantro Rice, Black or Kidney Beans, Sour Cream, Onions, Peppers…on a Flour, Whole-Wheat or even without the wrap…needless to say, plenty of fillers.
$9.99 was enough for this monster burrito and a bottle of iced tea. Fountain soda also available.
Guess my buddies were right. This burrito was worth the trip from MA.
Chips and Salsa
Chips were homemade and pretty good. Salsa and the pico de gallo was pretty typical fare.

Excellent Korean Food!
SO much better than your typical Chinese Fare. Dishes from Bulgogi, (Korean Teriyaki Beef), Kimchee Ji Gi, Mandu, (Korean Dumplings), Pan Jun, (Scallion Pancakes), Chicken Tempura with a Honey Glaze…all the different kinds of Kimchee with every meal, Bi Bim Bob…you really can’t go wrong.
When a Korean Restaurant is filled with happy Koreans, you know you have a good thing. Near Fort Devens in Ayer, MA…a MUST try!

It's in the name...
Can’t really go wrong when you order the food item that is in the title of the place, right?
This place is no exception…the roast beef sandwiches are really good.
Small dining room and always crowded at lunch time.
Good eats…cheap price
Dishes I tried:
Roast Beef Sandwich
Lots of places in the area serve Roast Beef Sandwiches, but I think this one stands out. I prefer mine with just sauce…and I would take a nice creamy horseradish sauce if they had that too.
You can side this with fries or onion rings, but I don’t think these are stand outs like the Roast Beef.
Fried ClamStrips Dinner
Another great dinner…also served up with the fries/onion rings, but don’t let that stop you. I think you can choose rice/salad as a side with this too.
The strips are great, piping hot and served with a decent tarter sauce.
These have been consistently good.

The T-Bone at T-Bones...
This steakhouse / sports bar is a great place to kick back, get some great drinks and a bite to eat.
Their dining room is huge and the bar area seats quite a few as well. The staff are really friendly and always good and even when it looks chaotic, stay attentive to their stations. You’ll often see waitstaff helping each other out, which I think is a sign of happy staff.
Between their Prime Rib, (limited quantities!), and their special T-Bone, I can’t say I’ve tried much else. No need to.
The pre-meal brown bread is SO good, but don’t down too much or you’ll be full by the time the entree hits.
The French Onion soup is a great appetizer! And I agree with the other reviewer on the scallops wrapped in bacon with just a drizzle of maple syrup. Booyah!
But the Prime Rib or the T-Bone are fine choices. Always cooked superbly and to the way you want it cooked. The Baked potato and vegetable are pretty good too.
If you’re a fan of a nice Grey Goose Martini’s Straight Up and Dirty with some crazy good Roland Olives, be sure to grab one or four here!
Dishes I tried:
T-Bone
A great steak…perfectly char-broiled. Comes with a side of potato and the veggie of the day.
Don’t forget to ask for the T-Bones sauce on the side!
If the Potato and veggie were just a tad more remarkable, I would have given this a 5-star.
Prime Rib
This Prime Rib is as good as any I’ve tried. Always cooked perfectly…always juicy…and also comes with a potato side and veggies.
Ditto on the 4 vs 5 star argument as the T-Bone.

Beautiful Restaurant...
Feng Shui literally translates to Wind-Water…
At this restaurant, it means you’ll:
…have the “wind” knocked out of you when the waitstaff hands you your check.
…be better off only drinking the “water” b/c your meal will cost so much.
…ok I will stop.
First off, the place is really nice. A far cry from the Mamma Mia’s joke that was in this building before.
The staff is friendly and pretty attentive.
I can’t help to wonder why we see all these fancy Chinese restaurants popping up that serve the usual Chinese fare at beefed up prices. Feng Shui is decent food…but I can’t help thinking I could have saved some dough just getting take out.
I ordered their version of a Pupu platter…I forget what it’s called, excited to try some new items…however, once half of it was consumed, you were wishing they had a typical pupu platter. Other dishes I’ve eaten were good…not great…but good. Pricy though.
If your loved one loves Chinese Food and it’s a date night…sure, come to Feng Shui. The decor is great.
Otherwise, get them some take out and have a nice night in. You’ll have leftover for the next night and your wallet will probably appreciate that you stayed in."

Chinese and Japanese...
My GF turned me on to this place…in fact our 1st date was at this place.
She had been dining there for some time…and we’ve eaten there together quite often as well.
Whether it’s Sashimi, Sushi or Chinese Food, you really can’t find a dish that isn’t fresh and delicious.
I’d say the Japanese dishes are better than the Chinese however.
The staff is great…courteous, friendly and very attentive.
Dishes I tried:
Sashimi and Sushi
A very nice selection of sushi and sashimi, anything you order is fresh and tasty.
General Gao Chicken
Just a little spicy…which is how I prefer General Gao’s chicken. Excellent.

Pretty good for a chain...
So I think I’ve been here all of twice. Not this particular location, just Longhorn in general.
I couldn’t tell you what I ate the 1st time, however, it wasn’t memorable.
This time, however, wasn’t too bad.
I had the steak of course…hard to visit a place called Longhorn Steakhouse and not get a steak, right?
The inside of the steakhouse is pretty typical of the large chain steakhouses, but the dining room was nice…and looked clean. Staff was attentive and friendly.
Dishes I tried:
Flo's Filet
SO…
I had what is called the Flo’s Filet…a 7oz filet cooked medium rare. I had asked for medium, but this was closer to rare than medium. I can’t say I hate steak that way, (better that than well done), so I ate it up anyway. You’d think any restaurant with the phrase “Steakhouse” in it would get it right…every time.
It comes with a choice of sides…of which I picked the roasted asparagus. The asparagus was really good, not too tender, not too crispy.
I chose to get a side salad with Caesar dressing which was very lackluster.
I gave this a 3-stars which shouldn’t be considered bad, but I think I would probably try something else on the menu should I go again.

An Erie Favorite as long as I can remember...
Erie is my hometown…while I don’t live there anymore, I still remember Patti’s Pizza.
I remember when the East Side Patti’s Pizza used to be a tiny hole in the wall right off a grocery store called ‘Paul Bunyan’s’. Carry-Out only at the time…and you could get a Cheese Pizza for less than $5.
I remember my dad bringing Patti’s home quite often…it was cheap, good and the family loved it.
For the most part, the two items we ate the most was Pepperoni pizza…and pepperoni balls.
What is a pepperoni ball you ask?
Small pieces of deep fried dough with pepperoni in the middle. A recent trip to visit my hometown revealed they now sell pizza balls too…
These balls are SO good.
(There is a joke in there somewhere… *ahem)
Whenever anyone in my family gets back to Erie, they make sure to stop in and get some of that great pizza. Even bring home frozen ones to bake in the oven…
Best pizza I’ve ever had to date…hands down.
Dishes I tried:
Pizza
The pizza sauce is perfect…always a great amount of toppings…the crust is somewhere between thick and thin…and always crispy and delicious. Still reasonably priced, even after all these years.
Pizza and Pepperoni Balls
I think these are still less than a buck each. Maybe even two for a buck if I remember correctly.
Like Fried Dough? Like Pepperoni? Like Pepperoni Pizza?
All of these rolled into one, beautiful, deep fried creation. Make sure to get a 3-pack of ‘em and don’t share ‘em…they’re just too good.

01/29/2009So true! When people of the nationality are eating at the restaurant that represents their country, it’s always a good thing. :)
