Amazing Food and Friendly Staff
I went to Linguini’s for an end of semester celebration with my boyfriend and found it to be even better suited than I had expected it to be. I was only mildly disappointed at the lack of bread offered before the meal (which is something that I’m accustomed to at places like this), but the affordability, huge portion sizes and great tasting food more than made up for it.
Their pizza was fantastic (as was the pasta dish we shared both of) and our waitress was very friendly willing to give suggestions of her favorite dishes and seemed to genuinely love the food there. I’d definitely go there just to pick up pizza on a Friday night as it’s about the same price as any other pizza, but so much tastier!
My only complaints about the places was that it was a bit drafty and the service (though very friendly) was a big slow, but we did go at an odd time of the day and so they were a bit understaffed and are probably used to having more people around to fill the place with body heat.
Dishes I tried:
Spinach Pizza
I must say, this is possibly one of the best pizza’s that I have EVER had. Though I don’t see it on the online menu, I believe the one we had contained goat cheese, spinach, garlic and tomatoes… we had it with their white sauce which was very light and perfect. It was simply amazing.
It is about $10 for a small or $15 for a large. We ordered the small and it was enough (with an appetizer) for us to share alone.
Pasta Prima Vera with Grilled Chicken Breast
Another amazing dish. The garlic infused olive oil made a very nice and flavorful sauce. The veggies were well chosen for the sauce and very abundant. Pretty much every bite of this dish was a little taste of heaven in my mouth. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone.

Great Appetizers and Lots of Beers
I’ve eaten here several times now and I got to admit that the best way to go here is grab some friends, order a variety of their appetizers, try a few of the different beers (I really like their Fire Brick Brown Ale) and kick back and relax.
This is definitely more of a bar that happens to serve great food than a restaurant with great beer. They have a very large selection of beer there so it’s definitely a beer lover’s paradise. I’ve tried something new each time I’ve gone and have yet to be disappointed.
Their entrees are alright, but definitely lack the punch and true creativity of their appetizers. But then again, it’s a bar, what do you expect?
It’s a little bit of a tight fit, with everyone packed in to the small area, but I think that’s supposed to be part of the charm.
All in all? This is one of my favorite places to treat myself to in Pittsburgh especially after 11 when everything is half priced!!
Dishes I tried:
yin yang rolls
These were very tasty, especially the interesting sauces served with them, but did not provide as much food as many of the other appetizers do.
price estimate. does not reflect half price after 11 price
rollafatty
These are basic pepperoni rolls and while very tasty and great for bar food, wasn’t as exciting as a lot of the other things they offer. Definitely a good staple if you’re looking for something with a bit more for the appetizers.
price estimate. does not reflect half price after 11 price
zen wraps
One of my favorite things I ordered at Fuel & Fuddle. The flavoring on the chicken is amazing… though if you overload your lettuce, it can be a bit messy to eat this is the only dish I’ve ordered every time I’ve gone because I feel like it’s been something that everyone can enjoy. (I’ve gone each time with different people).
price estimate. does not reflect half price after 11 price
fire-baked brie
This is by far my favorite dish they serve. The warm brie is served with a lovely sweeter sauce and apples that compliment it perfectly. It’s a little slice of heaven. It’s wrapped in a thin layer of dough before it’s baked to provide a bit of bread to go with the cheese. If you’re a fan of brie, you really should try this dish
price estimate. does not reflect half price after 11 price
veg head pasta
When the food description was listed as:
“mixed fresh veggies sauteed with spinach and garlic and tossed with penne”
I pretty much thought I was going to be in heaven… instead the dish turned out to be more than a little bland and I found myself disappointed.

Friendly staff, a show and tasty food
The chef is obviously proud of his restaurant and all the love he has poured into everything on his menu. Although he makes all of the traditional dishes you would normally find at a hibachi grill, he has put thought and minor adjustments to most of the items to make them a bit more him and very tasty.
The food there has always been amazing when I’ve gone, but what I really go back for is the entertainment. The chef (yes, there is just one) is very friendly and charismatic. While most hibachi grills seem to stick to the same script for the meal and make very little effort to go beyond that, Captain Nemo’s chef goes above and beyond not only making conversation, but jokes tailored to each group and their age/interests/etc.
Some people are bothered when Japanese/Asian restaurants have non-Asian chefs, but Captain Nemo’s staff is so friendly that I don’t see how anybody could have a problem with that here.
I am someone who really loves to get to feel at home at a restaurant… like I could easily become a regular there and be welcomed and remembered as family and this is definitely a place that makes that feeling come easy.
I’d definitely recommend this to ANYONE who loves hibachi grills as some place much more laid back, but just as tasty (if not more so) than the norm. :)

My Favorite Sushi Restaurant of All Time
I know, who would have thought that little old Fargo would have a sushi restaurant that was any good, but we do, in fact, have two of them. Of the two, Sushi Time is much better. Cheng, the chef, is both friendly and very skilled. He gives great sized portions at a very reasonable price.
If you ask to try something new or different he’s always got suggestions and is responsible for the variety of sushi I’ve had because of this. Even when I’ve not asked he often makes suggestions or asks if I’d like to try something new.
All of his food is fresh and his rice is always cooked perfectly.
Plus, how many times can you say that you’ve been to a sushi restaurant that’s inside of Irish Pub that’s inside of a hotel? Only in Fargo… only in Fargo…. Ha!
I love it though. Definitely a treat whenever I get a chance to go there and the #1 MUST GO restaurant on my list whenever I visit Fargo. If you ever get the change to go to Fargo and love sushi, be sure to check it out.
And if you love sushi and live in Fargo? Don’t be afraid to make yourself a regular, it’s sure to become a journey into new delights.
Oh, there’s also a bar menu too with lots of American foods for your friends if they aren’t sushi fans…

Incredible Food in a Tavern Style Atmosphere
We kind of happened on to this restaurant by chance when my parents and I were checking out Pittsburgh for the first time. A lot of the places were booked and so we just kept walking until we got a bit lost and came upon this little treasure. While it was fairly busy, we didn’t have to wait too long before getting a table of our own and the wait was well worth it.
The restaurant is very long and narrow, with a bar covering about half of one of the walls. It definitely has a relaxed atmosphere, though that made my whole family feel more than comfortable though it was quiet enough to hear everyone without raising our voices at all.
The food here was so fantastic that when my parents came back to Pittsburgh to help me move they both insisted on going back to the same restaurant instead of trying some place new. It’s also someplace I take anyone who wants to spend a bit more for a nicer meal as entrees are $20-30 dollars.
While I went with the crab and chicken, there were many other amazing choices to include from including fantastic sounding pastas and stuffed fillets (I’ve been meaning to try the one stuffed with spinach, mushroom and feta). There’s also plenty of seafood choices as well as ribs, etc. Definitely something to interest everyone in your party.
For the complete menu you can check out:

Dishes I tried:
Chicken & Crab
In our family once the meals arrive we always seem to label the best one by saying that they “chose wisely” and at 1902 tavern, this entree was definitely the wise choice. Definitely deserving it’s label of house specialty, this dish features crab meat and spinach rolled in chicken breast and topped with a light (and amazing) lobster sauce. The crab is cooked to perfection, light and buttery. It really seems to just melt into your taste buds with utter delight.
After you try this dish here, you’ll be back and you’ll find it incredibly difficult to try anything else.

Some very fantastic dishes
I’ve been to the bar on three occasions, the first with friends for their beer tour (where they basically bring out oversized shot glasses to sample their various beers) and the other two with family and both were a lot of fun. I’m a huge fan of relaxed atmosphere’s and this was one for sure.
As far as the food goes, I’ve found that they have some really amazing dishes and some that are alright. The ones that are good are really fantastic, but the others kind of lead to disappointment (like the mac n’ cheese which was all but flavorless).
I did not have the beer the latest time I went, but I’ve remembered enjoying them past visits and they do have a lovely variety of beers that they brew, which is always nice.
One thing though, the service can often be slow as the restaurant lends itself to people out for a long relaxed night out (i.e. it’s dining not eating). So when you go order a beer, sit back and enjoy your company and you’ll love the place as much as I do.
Dishes I tried:
Jambalaya with Red Ale Rice
Definitely the best thing I’ve EVER had there. It was actually my mom who ordered this one (we always share everything we order in my family) and she definitely chose wisely.
The flavor on this was amazing, just the right amount of spice to really feel it without it being overpowering. Also came with lots of shrimp and chicken and Andouille sausage, which is sometimes where people skimp.
Had plenty to bring home and heated it up a few days later with a little bit of tomato paste to add some moisture back in and found it to be just as amazing reheated.
If I ever go back, I’ll be ordering this dish next time.

My Must Eat in Cleveland
I ended up at this restaurant by chance when visiting friends in Cleveland that were running so terribly late I decided to grab lunch to pass the time and found this to be the coolest looking restaurant in the immediate vicinity to which we were supposed to meet.
Even though I was eating at an odd time, there were several others at the small restaurant which is always a good side. The inside is a fun atmosphere filled with bright and festive colors that make you feel sunny and a kitchen that’s open to the ordering area so you can see them preparing all the tasty dishes.
The chef took my meal himself and was insanely friendly. When I told him it was my first time and asked him for recommendations he got really excited, asked a couple questions and then told me that he knew just what to make me (An Avocado Chicken Burrito) and offered me some limeade to accompany it.
I wish to God I’d have looked at the menu for the real name of this burrito cause it was the best burrito of my life. I remember thinking while I was eating that it tasted like a dish that might be prepared on Iron Chef if the theme ingredient was avocado… and win. (Only with HUGE proportions!!) Seriously, this burrito could have fed me for AT LEAST 3 meals. The avocado was fresh, the chicken seasoned perfectly, and the flavor resonated through each bite.
Definitely a nice change from the normal “Mexican” food you find in Northern states.

A Pittsburgh Staple
If you honor the “When in Rome” saying than when in Pittsburgh, you really should eat at the Primanti brothers. This is more than just a local favorite, but a staple of the area and how they eat.
What makes Primanti Brothers so special is that all of their sandwiches come piled high with fries, coleslaw, tomatoes and provolone cheese… yes these are not sides but all ON the sandwich. And while I tend not to be a huge fan of coleslaw, the sweetness of this really adds to the sandwich. I also recommend adding an egg to the sandwich which is only another 50 cents!!
While I’m not as huge of a fan of the restaurant as the locals (I’m a fries on the side kind of girl), I do really enjoy it on occasion. My boyfriend, however, who makes a habit out of piling his side dishes on his sandwiches every chance he can get, finds a home at this local favorite.
Be warned: With all those sides piled on, sandwiches can become ridiculously sky high and very filling. For mid-light eaters, I’d definitely recommend sharing especially if you start off with an appetizer like another area staple: pierogies!
Another tip: the service here can be touch and go. Most often it is superb, but other days it’s been so god awful that I was tempted to not leave a tip (as a past server, something I NEVER do).
Dishes I tried:
Ham or Bacon, Egg & Cheese Sandwich
This has been my favorite sandwich I’ve had here yet! Though ridiculously huge (I swear they get a little taller each time I go back), I really love the eggs on these sandwiches. Ham also complimented it better than some of my favorite deli style meats (such as roast beef). I even liked it better than the pastrami!
The Pitts-Burger Cheese Steak
Listed in big print as the #2 best seller (though I swear I’ve never seen what is listed as the #1…), I was HUGELY disappointed. And while normally I’d be complaining about the use of bread instead of hamburger buns (which I rarely enjoy) that didn’t bother me nearly as much as the taste of the burger itself. The seasoning took away from the flavor of the meat itself. I did not enjoy this at all.

Great Food and Fun Experience.
Now, I’ve never done Tapas before nor had anyone in our party, but when my parents came to town and my dad wanted to try something new I thought it’d be just thing since I’ve always wanted to do it. And it definitely was a hit all around.
The restaurant had a very fun feel to it, not too upscale, but just the right amount of trendy and relaxed. The music was a little loud, but we ended up catching an early dinner cause my parents had spent the day flying and were starving. I’m guessing when the place gets busy later in the night the music would be the appropriate volume.
The food was fantastic. We got two things each to share and so were able to have a variety of the dishes and love everything we tried. Our waiter kept the dishes coming out at an even pace making sure we were never sitting around waiting, but also did not feel pressured with too much food on the table. It was laid back and a very good place for a first meeting (my parents were meeting my long time boyfriend for the first time). It really took the pressure off and allowed for everyone to help dish people up to give a really positive atmosphere at our table as well.
The waiter was also very helpful in making recommendations on both food and wine. I’d definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a nice meal out. They also do meal and wine parings on occasion where they serve you a multi course meal each course paired with a new wine. And they have wine tours where you get 2 oz. of each wine on a list for a reasonable price to let you get a variety of flavors. It’s really a perfect place for either larger groups or smaller and more intimate ones.
Dishes I tried:
Grilled sea scallops in mango sauce
I’m not a big fan of scallops so I’m really not one to review them. They were cooked well, but I didn’t think the mango sauce enhanced them in the way that most of the other dishes here seemed in unison. Was still very tasty though!
Artichoke fritters with fresh garlic and olive oil
This was definitely a favorite of our group and while it was fried, which I’m usually not a big fan of, it was also artichokes which I am a big fan of. In fact the artichokes were so good and the breading for the fry so subtle that it was really a perfect blend.
Beef shish kabob ala parrilla with onions and peppers
The chunks of beef were not only large, but also very well prepared. So tender, so tasty, so good. There wasn’t a lot of onions or peppers on the kabob as it was mostly meat, but I’m definitely not one to complain about that and the sauce they served with it was simply magnificent. This is definitely one I’d order again if I returned.
Wasabi Encrusted Lamb
This was my personal favorite dish of the night and while it was a special and therefor not on the regular menu, I’d highly recommend it to anyone who had the pleasure of finding that as a special of the night.
My mom was afraid when she heard the term wasabi, but it was actually prepared in such a way where it was more sweet with just hints of that powerful taste here and there. The lamb was cooked beautifully and with four lamb chops on the one plate, it was definitely filling enough.
I would definitely order this any time I heard it as a special. It was simply fantastic.
Spicy Shrimp
This was actually the most anticipated and the most disappointing dish of the night. Probably the only dish we didn’t really enjoy. The sauce was red and less complex than anything else we’d had that night. On a whole it just felt like something that we had had before. It didn’t taste very special or unique like most of the other dishes were for us. It didn’t stand out at all. Luckily it was just a special for the night, so hopefully you won’t even have to think about avoiding it. On a plus, we were not upset in the least that the plate contained only 4 shrimp and nothing else because no one wanted any more of it.
Creme brulee
I love Creme Brulee it’s one of my favorite deserts of all time and I’m happy to report this is one of the first creme brulees I’ve had in a very long time that met my standards and that I was actually pleased with. Thank god! It had that perfect blend of cold custard inside with a beautiful layer of caramelized sugar on top. Very rarely do I see such a nice layer that I can really crack into it. Often I find it to be so thin its gone soggy. The flavors were so rich and the textures fantastic. Definitely happy I risked ordering it.
Chocolate mousse
My dad’s personal favorite. Very rich, very chocolately, very light, very fantastic. So much so that I only got one bite. He hogged the rest for himself. Get it so you can review it better and let me know even more so what I was missing!
Fresh Fruit Tart
I love tarts so much, but this one was a little disappointing. It had fermented pears on top, which were pretty good, but the mustard wasn’t set enough. It oozed everywhere when I put my fork to it and poured out on to the plate after the first bite was taken. Also, the crust was a bit hard to cut through and ended up breaking apart a bit. The tastes were all there though, it was just annoying to eat and ended up presenting itself poorly.
Kobe beef tenderloin carpacio with arugual salad and manchego cheese
My first experience with beef carpacio and it was a fantastic one. It was flavored perfectly with olive oil, salt and freshly cracked pepper. It was fantastic. I’d definitely recommend this to anyone willing to try raw beef.
Fresh tilapia ceviche with avocado
My biggest sadness with this dish was there wasn’t so much avocado in the dish as on the side of it. It was fantastic, light and refreshing though. The tilapia was mixed with onions, corn and a few other ingredients to make a light salad that was very nice and subtle.
