Make no mistake, this place thrives on repeat business. Not because only repeat customers could possibly like it, but because nearly everyone who goes there becomes a repeat customer. The owner’s remarks can be a bit caustic, but it’s all in good fun. Here’s some advice for next time you go in (and, really, you should): know what you want in advance; order the sandwich first; be prepared for rapid-fire questions; while they’re making the sandwich, order your soup and pie from one of the other workers on the line; never, under any circumstances, ask what soups are available—it’s written on the white board; feel free to ask what pies are available, ‘cause they’re not all available everyday; do not wait til you get to the register to order your soup and pie, or you’ll get something akin to “When were you gonna order that? Tomorrow?” The whole experience is super fun once you get the hang of it, and the cheap, great food makes it well worth the occasional ribbing.
