They've got it all from soup to nuts
Sevan Bakery is more than a bakery. They have the most incredible assortment of exotic nuts I’ve ever seen. But the thing that keeps me a repeat customer is their lahmejunes, Armenia’s version of pizza and with the first bite I’ve been hooked ever since. They’ve got some other ‘stuffed’ rolls and there was one that was stuffed with some meat, potatoes and cheese. I think they said the name of the meat and it sounded like pastrami. Whatever it is, it reminds me of prosciutto only with character. And, I’m not kidding about the soup. They make this soup on Saturdays that’s really something to try. Don’t know what’s in it, all I know is that it’s pretty darned good!
Dishes I tried:
Lahmejune
They say it’s Armenian pizza. I say it’s just the best. A circle of some type of flat bread topped with ground meat, peppers, and a great blend of spices, lahmejunes are addictive. The lady behind the counter said that they’re better than going to McDonald’s. She was right! IF you’re hungry for a decent lunch, try any one of their stuffed rolls, pies or breads. But whatever you do, take home a box of lahmejune. They’ll be a huge hit!

10/07/2008That lahmejune sounds so tasty. I’m going to have to see if I can find that same dish here in Los Angeles.
