Will go again and bring friends!
French toast and soda cost under $10. There were no refills on soda, so it was an expensive can of soda for not being bottomless. The rest of the food was cheap, so whatever. It looks like an upscale restaurant. They had wine lining the walls and people in suits eating there, but it was very cheap. Great place to impress friends and still get some breakfast all day. They have 10 breakfast items, which mostly stop at 11. The service was really nice. The waiter was just a couple of years older than me. He was dressed really nice in a vest and a white shirt. I tipped $2 on $10, 20 percent. I ate very quick because I was hungry so I was only there about 20 minutes.

Out of my price range, not a lot of vegetarian offerings
I don’t forsee me going back, but I’m glad I went. Its not the type of place I look for, but it was near Jacob Javitz where I needed to go and just a couple of blocks from Madison Square and Penn Station. There’s nothing cheap around here, and this was a homey, not touristy place. I spent more on this meal than I have spent on any one meal since I’ve been in New York, but I’m fasting for 24 hours, so I needed to eat a lot. The portion size was generous. They brought bread and butter, nothing to write home about – not made fresh – standard diner bread.
This is a bar atmosphere with a restaurant. They had the Knicks playing Toronto. Sat at tables next to bar. It was a slow night – only one other table of people, and another group sitting with the owner at the bar and the waitress talked with them.
They were friendly. Atmosphere was loungy, with candles on the table.
Dishes I tried:
Salmon Fettucine
Because I’m a vegetarian, I had it without the salmon and they may have given me a double portion, it was gigantic. Very thick cream sauce, it could have been a soup – very good. Came with capers. Definitely a good fettucine that lined my stomach and hopefully will last me for more than 12 hours.

Funky atmosphere, good eats, all night
Really cool atmosphere, beat feel, mixed and matched tables. Looks like a place a bunch of people threw together to hang out in and decided they might as well invite others to eat there to. They were playing Bob Dylan, serve breakfast until 4 pm on weekdays.
They have a wine list.
I sat outside. The service was good, dressed artsy.
Also on the menu were salads, which are supposed to be spectacular. Lots of pasta, vegie dishes, sandwiches.
Open 24 hours with inside, outside front, outside garden.
People sitting next to me seemed like the guy was trying to impress the girl with a philosophical discussion, which was annoying, but they and I were the only ones eating outside on the sidewalk.
Heard that the place was like this 30 years ago…
Dishes I tried:
Banana and Peach Crepe
Was plated like it was a nice restaurant with thought in how it was presented, which is unique in a cheap place. It was not that big, but the taste was great – very sweet. I could have used a bigger portion, but I also could have ordered something else.

Generous Portions, Ample Choices, Good service
Look, I hang around Washington Square, I love American diners, and as a vegetarian, I need a choice of breakfast food, pasta and salads at all hours – so this works for me! My pasta came with soup AND salad. They put bread on the table (although the butter was prepackaged) and they provide a peppermint on the way out – that’s how I like my diners. The salad that came with my dinner was big, so I got my money’s worth here. As we were leaving, we saw someone having pie a la mode and the ice cream was 2 scoops each the size of a fist. I definitely will go back for dessert. Service was good, it was clean. We spent $25.00 for 2 of us and left satisfied.
I definitely will come back because the menu says: “All entrees served with a cup of soup, salad & choice of pasta. Pasta Selection: Linguine, Rigatoni, Penne, Spaghetti, Angel Hair, Tortellini, Fettuccini” AND they provide a choice of sauces – this is what I look for!
Dishes I tried:
Tortelini Marinara
Tortelini came with soup AND salad. The salad was an ample size. I usually have oil and vinegar, but the vinegar was not edible. My sister had the soup and liked it. It was a huge portion of pasta and I ate it all (because I had waited 10 hours for my sister to meet me) as I was hungry. I really liked that they gave me a choice of sauces for the tortelini. I will come back to try other pasta choices.
Chicken Caesar Wrap
This is under Specialty wraps: Chicken Caesar Wrap Romaine Lettuce, Grilled Chicken Breast, Croutons, Parmesan Cheese, Topped with Caesar Dressing. It was a generous size.

Salad Bar and Pasta Bar
More like a Mongolian BBQ. I ordered a pasta, he had all the ingredients, I picked out what I wanted and he cooked it in front of me. A little more than I wanted to pay because it wasn’t huge portions, but it was probably the cheapest place in this neighborhood. The pasta was very good. Was between $20 and $25 for 2 of us with non-alcoholic drinks, tax and tip. They were playing Bob Dylan, which is a plus for any restaurant atmosphere. It was well lit. Looked like a salad joint, appears to be one of several Cafe Metros in the city. I would definitely go back again when in this neighborhood. I would have preferred a little bit cheaper and more dinery, but it was great.
Dishes I tried:
Pasta
You could choose anything you wanted. Its all one price, except if you add meat. Penne, Mozzarella, mushrooms, tomato. It tasted great.
Premade Chicken Wrap
my friend liked her sandwich, it had like 3 wraps and was very big.

Prepackaged syrup and butter - okay diner
This place looks like a diner – no question about that. I was in and out in 10 minutes – so service was fast. It was clean, nice. Didn’t care for the prepackaged syrup and butter, but I would go back and try other things on the menu.
Dishes I tried:
Belgian Waffle
The waffle came with packages of syrup and butter like what you get at McDonald’s, which is disappointing for a sit down restaurant where I’d expect syrup that can be poured and fresh butter – but hey, I was in and out in 10 minutes and on to my next adventure.

Big Menu, relatively affordable, lots of malt!
I would definitely return. Big menu and everything relatively affordable. Didn’t really notice the decor or atmosphere – sometimes all I care about is eating. Which means that it was okay or I would have noticed if it were bad. The service was good, the food was plentiful. They had a lot of choices so I would return and try another dish. Add it my list of dependable diners where I know I will get decent food at a reasonable price that is not meat and is open all hours.
Dishes I tried:
Ceasar Salad
This was big and tasty. Not comparing it to gourmet ceasars where they come to your table and prepare the dressing in front of you, starting with cracking the eggs… For my simple needs and cheap pallet, this fit the bill.
Malted Milk Shake
Good news: they put a lot of malt in it, which is always good because a lot of places don’t when you order a
malted. Bad news: not an exceptional malted and they did not bring extra in the metal cup that they make it in (like at Barney’s). If I’m spending that much on a milk shake, which is protein for me, and they’re going to toss the leftover, just bring it to me. Only because other places that I like do this would I even think that it was missing.

this is a Must Eat Here kind of place
great place. come in get a ticket, then order and sit.
they have the table where Sally sat with Harry in the movie and it says “hope you’re having what she’s having” the line was adlibbed – either Billy Crystal or the director’s mother was sitting in as an extra and the film was rolling when she said that so they included it in the film.
for vegetarians, potato pancakes, egg salad sandwich and a couple of other things.
Guy at the counter started talking to me as if he knew me – he thought I was someone else. He told me I looked like Harry Potter and asked me where the guys that I usually come in with are. There gotta be a hundred guys that look like me here.
Dishes I tried:
Tuna Sandwich and pickle
Lots and lots of tuna on it. Egg salad would have been cheaper. Had it on rye bread or whatever the standard bread was. I can’t get sour dough bread here, but I can get pumpernickel which I can’t get in SF

Lemon Ricotta pancakes, Atmosphere Weird in a good way
I will definitely go back, there were other pancakes on the menu that I wanted to try also. It seemed like cool place to just sit around with people. Weird atmosphere, but weird in a good way. Not what you’d expect from a diner type of place. Place was clean. I sat at tables outside which were nice. I guess I was people watching which is easy to do. People are quirky.
Lemon Riccotta pancakes were really tasty. Decent amount of food. I was eyeing the blackberry lemonade, but it was $5.00 and no way I would spend that much on a drink. Cost $10.00filled me up, tasted great, service very nice.
I had water. I was gonna get coffee, but even the coffee was $4.50 – food was relatively cheap. Keeper.
Dishes I tried:
Lemon Ricotta Pancakes
Lemon Riccotta pancakes, tall stack, 3 pancakes, whole bunch of cream, lemon and mint on top. A lot of blueberries on top, also. Decent amount of food. I was
eyeing the blackberry lemonade, but it was $5.00 and no way I would spend that much on a drink.

Clean, good service, vegie burger
The atmosphere was like a macrobiotic place, I guess, whatever that is. But it is no longer vegetarian, if it ever was. They had an extensive menu. Breakfast is served until 5 PM.
Breakfast all day is important to me as a vegetarian, that is where I get my proteins.
I would go again. It was clean. Service was fine.
Dishes I tried:
Pizza Vegie Burger
It was a vegie burger covered in melted mazarella and tomato sauce. Came with a small salad. Cheap,
tasted good, filling.
I also had a root beer. I think they had free refills on softdrinks, which were reasonably priced, half what it
costs other places.
