Tisiphone "Sushi, Curry, and Buffalo Wings (oh my)!"

I am a female 20-something, and I’m as likely to be at home playing xbox, drinking mountain dew, and eating take-out buffalo wings as I am to be drinking sake, wearing four-inch heels at an Asian Fusion restaurant before going to the theatre.

My two cents on the ubiquitous 'Melting Pot'

The Melting Pot is a nationwide chain of fondue restaurants. If you don’t know what fondue is, Wikipedia it first. Although there are (currently) no other reviews for this location, a little perusing shows me that the menu and experience is very similar whichever location you go to. That being said, here are my slightly unromantic observations:

-The food is good. Truly, not so incredible that I would want to eat there every week if I won the lottery. However, I don’t think that’s the point. The fun part is playing with your food with skewery-eaty-things and a little tiny stove. Also, chocolate. Lots and lots of chocolate.
- Like 23,523 people have said before me, dinner takes hours. Not one, not two, try three or more. We did not wait a long time between courses at all. It just takes a long time to eat.
- We got their four course dinner for a bit shy of $100 for two people (drinks extra). It consisted of cheese fondue, salad, assorted choices of various meat fondue for dinner, and a selection of dessert fondues (we chose dark chocolate). It was immense amounts of food. I left (a bit too) stuffed.
-The cheese appetizer and dessert really outshone everything else. I think I could have lived without the other courses and not missed much. The salad was fresh, but it really seemed unnecessary, and I wish I had skipped it and saved room (they give you plenty of vegetables with dinner). I wasn’t a huge fan of the chicken or beef, but they provide a nice assortment of sauces to accompany dinner (little trays of sauces are also food-playing-with-fun). The shrimp and the dumplings were nice.
- I would not go with more than two or three other people, because the reach for the stove would get too awkward.
- I really liked the decor in this location, and the service was great.

Altogether, it wasn’t really my cup of tea, but it was fun and I’m glad that I tried it. I would go back just to have drinks and appetizers or dessert.
