Fine Dining, Good Price, Excellent Service
Nice decor, plenty to choose from on the menu. Everything was well presented, and the portion sizes were substantial for this type of restaurant. I did not get a good look at the wine list, but judging by the displays the choices were ample.
Dishes I tried:
Oysters on a half shell
Excellent. The sauce was subtle but enough to know it was there. The oysters tasted fresh. Highly recommended
Rib Eye (12 oz)
Well prepared, great cut. Surprised at the price (well worth it). Three types of “sauce” served with it. Garlic and Onion / Black Truffel butter / Red wine reduction. I had the Black Truffle butter (very subtle taste).
Fois Gras
I added this to my steak. The inside was silky smooth, and the outside crisp. While I am not big on Fois Gras, it was well prepared.
Calamari
Crisp on the outside, and not rubbery. Well prepared with a tasty orange sauce.
Mussles
Great dish. Well prepared in a great “boullabaise” style sauce. Enough mussles to choke a horse. Highly recommended.

French Cuisine at it's peak
This elegant abode is filled with art, beautiful dining settings, and capacious outdoor lighting. There is a large wine cellar, private dining room, banquet room, and the regular dining room. Their wine selections rival the best restaurants of the world offering up over 800 selections. The owner is friendly, and is commonly found circling the restaurant verifying each guest’s pleasant dining experience. This place lives up to both ambience, and level of gratification with service and overall food quality. http://www.lachaumiere.ca
Dishes I tried:
Crab Rolls
red peppers stuffed with crab wrapped in a half canoe of leaf lettuce. The lettuce is arranged such that the rolls are for the patron’s eyes only. When eaten like a burrito, the symphony of tastes are something to behold. After the Amuse Bouche, this prequel to the meal left me wanting more. Incredible
Scallops Wrapped in Prosciutto
Scallops seared perfectly and cooked to perfection. The prosciutto complemented all the flavors of spice, oil, and scallop so nicely; not over powering at all.
Lobster Bisque
Signature soup for this restaurant. Everyone claims you must try the Lobster Bisque here. I have had it before, and it did not disappoint this time either. Prepared in the dining room on a cart, it is served quite hot with subtle spice. I had to add salt to my dish, but the taste was exquisite.
Fondant Au Chocolate
7 minute Chocolate cake. The cake is baked so that the center is left uncooked but still warm. Served with ice cream and variety of berries. The icing sugar could probably be left off the top of the cake, but is necessary for image. Quite tasty, not too sweet.
Special Only: Tenderloin in Peppercorn
The peppercorn sauce was good, and the tenderloin was cooked to perfection. My only gripe about the dish was the quality of meat. I found the tenderloin quite tough if you can fathom. I am used of more of a “kick” with peppercorn sauces. Since this was a “dinner special”, I am unsure if it will make it to the main menu. If you want steak, french cuisine is not your place. Try Carvers.

Surf and Turf in Calgary
Very nice setup inside, attached pub. Next to Hotel on McKnight Blvd and Edmonton Trail. Great service, decent menu. The food was mediocre.
Dishes I tried:
Raw Oysters
Poorly shucked oysters (You had to seperate them from the shell, and there were bits of shell loose inside). Had the Tomotal Chili and Cilantro sauce with it (which was more like a salsa). There are 2 other sauces to choose from.
Mussles
With Saffron Creme sauce. Decent, but nothing worth coming back for. There are 2 other sauces to choose from.
Monty's Crab Shack Boil
Half a Snow Crab, 1 Alaskan King Crab leg, and a bowl of mussels. The mussels were waaaaay better than the appetizer (although over cooked). The crab was done quite nicely, and was sweet and tasty. I had mine with saffron rice pilaf (not that great), and “chorizo” that tasted more like polish sausage.

Not All Donairs are Created Equal
This “My Donair” is by far the best donair place to go in Calgary. Do not even attempt to try the other “My Donairs” as this one is the tops. The gentleman that works here is one of the most friendly people in the world. I always see him handing out samples of his donair meat to people walking by. Anyone that gets a sample generally purchases something there.
Dishes I tried:
Super Donair
Their sweet sauce is what makes it so special. The meat is done and spiced well, don’t kid yourself. The wraps are custom made with a variety of toppings. My favorite is: onions, little lettuce, and peppers. Ask for extra sauce on the side… Incredible.

Best Spicy Chicken in the world
I hate to give a mall restaurant 5 stars. Especially for 1 dish. However, that 1 dish has had me coming back to this place time and time again. I am addicted to the spicy chicken with vermacelli. I beleive the price is 6.95. Not hefty by any standards. However, this is one of the best dishes I have had ANYWHERE bar none. The owner is one of the nicest people I have met, and recognized me after not visiting for well over a year.
Dishes I tried:
Spicy Chicken
I feel like a heal for writing this review. I have NEVER eaten anything else at this place. If you are ever in Eau Claire, and like a little kick in your food, you HAVE to try this.

Great Food, Great Price
This place will satisfy the hungriest of souls. Portions are huge, and tasty. The pizza here is incredible… though I do not like cold pizza the next day, their pizza is so good I can eat it cold as well.
Dishes I tried:
Veal Parmesan
Two large pieces of tender veal with lots of cheese, and tomato sauce on them. I used to order this with Spaghetti (which is how Veal Parmesan should be served)… but now it costs $2 extra… for pasta?! instead of rice / baked potato? Meal comes with a starter salad, and vegetables on the side as well… Vegetables were very over cooked on my last visit.
Capri Special Pizza
This is as far as I am concerned a MUST have. This pizza is one of the best Pizzas I have ever had barring a pizza place in Morinville (north of St Albert) called Alexis Steakhouse. If you live in Calgary, you must try this pizza.

Great Italian food
I have been to MANY italian restaurants in Calgary. Before you mention “Olive Garden”, or “Old Spaghetti Factory”, I must stop you from speaking before you embarass yourself.
This is one of the best Italian restaurants I have been to. The ambience is great, and there are a number of authentic tastey dishes at a reasonable price. Some may find it expensive, but the cost is well worth it.
Dishes I tried:
Veal Bocconcelli
This is one of the best Veal dishes I have ever had. It is stuffed veal with a choice of pasta. The pasta was Penne, and I find it very difficult to find a good penne in any restaurant (either too al dente for my liking, or no flavor in the sauce).

Great Mexican Food at reasonable price
Excellent rustic style restaurant with authentic cuisine. Although I am accustomed to more spice than this, the food prepared here tastes like the real thing. Food presentation is phenomenal. Choices on the menu are substantial. We received free nachos to munch on before the meal (with home made salsa, and some sort of oil/vegetable accoutrement).
Dishes I tried:
Nachos Del Rey
Probably one of the best Nacho dishes I have ever had. Cheese piled high with a unique spicy sour cream sauce (as well as various other toppings). Comes with Guacamole.
Chimichangas
3 chimichangas (beef or chicken… I had a mix of the two) covered in a red sauce with their unique spiced sour cream. These were excellent. Could have used extra spice. Comes with Rice and Beans.
Burritos
Beef or Chicken. A little over kill on the shredded lettuce. Once again, I am accustomed to eating spicier food. Add a bit of hot sauce, and this one is a winner. Comes with Rice and Beans.

Great food Reasonable Price
This is a fine dining restaurant. While the atmosphere is not as serene as some fine dining restaurants, the service, and food more than make up for it. Their somalier is well versed, and their 3 signature (in my opinion) dishes are incredible and keep me coming back for more.
Dishes I tried:
Steak Diana
Tenderloin done to your liking, and cooked with the sauce table side. Sauce is what makes the meal (mushrooms, red onions, garlic, lemon, worschestershire, tobasco, some sort of gravy, heavy cream, and variety of spices and alchohol)
Strawberry Pepper Crepes
For two. Prepared table side in famboyant display. Very tastey with hint of almond.
