This little hole-in-the-wall restaurant is an undiscovered gem (perhaps because of difficulty parking). We ate here in a group of 9, so we had the opportunity to try several dishes.

Everything was freshly prepared with fresh ingredients, crisp, colorful vegetables. Each dish was a winner. There is also a choice of white or brown rice.

This is a very small place with a congenial staff, excellent service, a pleasant decor, and all dishes are prepared with fresh ingredients with crisp, colorful vegetables.

I give it high ratings.

Price for dinner for 9, including wine and tip, was $225.

We walked around San Luis Obispo looking for a place to eat and chose this because it was close to where we parked the car. We lucked out! The wood floors, dark wood paneling and interesting pictures on the wall gave it a “rich” feeling.

This being a college town, I suspect that the primary use for this establishment is drinking and dancing, but in the middle of the day, the lunch menu is very good. Lots of “different” things, which I am always looking for when we eat out. They do lots of unusual things with brie, for example.

I ordered Smoked Turkey with Brie and berry chipotle and a side of cole slaw; Walt had pesto chicken sandwich on foccacia bread. Both were excellent and we each shared half of our sandwich with the other, so we got to taste both.

I enjoy Thai food and this place is one of my favorites because I don’t like my food “burn your tongue” hot and they will tailor any dish to the level of hotness you prefer.

We ate here with three friends we hadn’t seen in a very long time and we were able to linger over our dinner without feeling rushed by the staff.

We started out with fresh spring rolls (rolled, not fried), which were crisp and delicious and just the right amount of tang to the sauce. We ate family style and enjoyed a chicken dish with peanut sauce, my favorite pad thai, a salad, and a curry, all served with brown instead of white rice (another option—my friends are careful about their nutrition and they liked this; I’m not a big fan of brown rice, but it’s nice that this is an option).

Everything was cooked to perfection, the curry was flavorful, and hot but not too hot. The pad thai was made with both chicken and shrimp, and the chicken with peanut sauce had a nice generous amount of peanuts added to it. The salad added just the proper amount of contrast to the hot dishes.

Price is moderately affordable, service is excellent and the food is great. What’s not to like?

We visited this restaurant on recommendation from the hostess at the nearby Jello Museum (yes, really there is a Jello Museum). We were told that they made the best chicken pot pie. The menu said that the crust was “the flakiest in the world.” I am a pie crust aficionado, so naturally I ordered that.

First came the salad and hot rolls. The rolls had obviously been heated in the microwave because tho they were fine when they first arrived, by the time they cooled, they were so hard you couldn’t even bite into one.

The biggest disappointment, though, was the chicken pot pie. It may be that the crust is the flakiest in the world, but it, too, had been heated in the microwave and the crust had the consistency of a hockey puck. Marie Callendar’s is far better (and cheaper).

This is an ok family style restaurant which has nice atmosphere and town history, but if you’re looking for an above-average dining experience, look elsewhere

The Skylon Tower is a restaurant you go to knowing that the food will be so-so, but the view will be fabulous. I wasn’t disappointed. Being able to sit in a rotating restaurant overlooking Niagara Falls was worth the high price and the mediocre food. We went for the early sitting special, $35 each if you book at 4:30 or 5 p.m. Prices are significantly higher after 5 p.m.

I had the prime rib, which I requested medium rare and which came medium-just-barely-rare. It was good, but not outstanding. In fact, that pretty much described the whole meal: good, but not outstanding.

However, it was worth everything for the view.
