Unfortunately, a horrible dining experience...

I’m sorry to be different here, but after several months of some folks saying that “we just have to try their fried chicken,” I brought my family in to the Joyce & Family restaurant (for the first time) on Wednesday evening around 5 PM (on 5-7-09).

Expecting to find a warm, organized, ole’ fashioned place, what we found instead was totally the opposite of our expectations.

When we first walked in, there was no one to greet you. We didn’t have a clue whether to just be seated or to walk up to the counter. Even the hired help behind the counter did not even acknowlege you. So we just sat down in a booth. After 15 minutes with no one coming up to us, I approached the girl behind the register and then she tells us that we have to pay first.

Okay, so we ordered the buffet. But then after looking at this very small buffet – most with greasy food items – the thing that irked us the most was that the dried chicken bin had run out. They kept telling us that the fried chicken would be replenished soon, but after 30 minutes, nothing happened, so we filled out with the “filler” items that they had out. After 45 minutes we just left, not leaving a tip at all. It was one of the worst dining experiences we’ve had in quite some time.

I’m sorry, but this entire experience was a big letdown. We will never ever return to this place, nor will we recommend it to anyone. It’s hard to believe that this place has a following – but apparently it does.

Again – sorry, but what a horrible experience that evening and we were so looking forward to trying their fried chicken and having a pleasant dining experience. Oh well…

There are much better restaurants in the area than this dive.

Greasy, the fried chicken had run out (apparently, their signature dish), and they never got anymore – we waited 45 minutes to get the chicken, but none came. So we left.

It’s a shame really, but on that evening…this place apparently forgot how to be a restaurant, both from the viewpoint of menu or service.
