Mario Schiopu has been putting together a fantastic steak and chop house in the old Russ’s Pizza location for the past couple of months. The old pizzaria stood vacant a year or two until Mario took over. He tore everything out and put in all new fixtures and dining areas, redocrated the walls with murals of Livermore downtown and wine region scenes and put in one of those kitchens where you can stand and watch the grilling action. Apparently its been a long process to get the place going, but he hopes to open in July 2008 with what he says will be the best steak and chop house in the tri-valley, bar none. He promises better food, service and atmosphere than the other steak and chop places in Livermore and Dublin!

Russ’s has been closed for several years. Mario Schiopu has been renovating the joint for the past couple of months and expects to open Mario’s Steak and Chop House in the summer of 2008. This new steakhouse in historic, downtown Livermore, is across the street from the Bankhead and Livermore cinemas, wiht free parking on site. He will feature Livermore valley wines.
