Great Find

El Farol is your typical hole-in-the wall, greasy-spoon restaurant. It looks a little run-down and the air smells a little funky (Argo is where they make corn starch and the whole town appropriately smells as such). However, when you have a craving for some authentic Mexican food, this is your place.
The burritos here are massive, so there is never a question as to whether or not you will be leaving satisfied. The burritos are filled with your choice of chicken or steak, with the addition of rice, beans, lettuce, cheese, sour cream, etc. My personal favorite is the breakfast burrito which includes 2 eggs fried up with some Chorizo. I prefer to add cheese to mine, but without it as just as good.
El Farol is open late and is worth the drive.

I love this place. The atmosphere is...

I love this place. The atmosphere is family-friendly and the staff has been the same for as long as I can remember. It is really the only place in Wilmette to get your standard cheese-fries, chicken tenders, mozzarella sticks, grilled cheese, etc. for a reasonable price and without having to go to an actual sit-down restaurant. (The set-up at Homer’s includes an order and pick-up type system where they call your name when your food is ready)
This is your typical neighborhood grill with excellent food and delicious homemade ice cream. You can also purchase the ice-cream by the carton to take home. In all my years of going to Homer’s, I have noticed an odd following for their grilled cheese. They are pretty great, but they are just a standard grilled cheese-I’m not sure what makes people love them so much, but they’re just good!

A perfect white chicken breast marinated and grilled in a superb teriyaki sauce. Served on a bun with lettuce, tomato and mayonnaise. The warm chicken breast combined with the teriyaki sauce and mayonnaise makes an unreal combination! Delicious!

Wah Mei-best chinese food in the world

I crave Wah Mei when I am away at school. It is the only Chinese food I will eat! The mongolian beef is out of this world, and their pork fried rice is a personal favorite. Dont even get me started on their egg rolls!! I introduce people to Wah Mei as often as I can and they all become as obsessed with the food as I am!
Wah Mei is directly across from the Linden CTA and while it has a few tables, it is mainly a carry-out place.
It is also a great place for non-meat lovers. Before my sister became a vegetarian, we used to eat Wah Mei all the time. And while she is a strict vegetarian now, she is always tempted to go back to meat when I start eating my Mongolian Beef or Pork Fried Rice in front of her! However, Wah Mei has delicious veggie egg rolls and veggie fried rice as well as several noodle dishes without meat. Wah Mei is a vegetarian friendly restaurant as well!

Weber's Bakery is phenomenal

My first encounter with Weber’s was at a friend’s birthday party. We had a delicious 3-tiered vanilla cake with strawberries in between each layer, and the most delicious icing I have ever tasted in my life. Their icing tastes like it is obviously homemade and has a nice, light and buttery/custard taste-nothing like the hard manufactured icing like you get in a grocery store. The strawberries were fresh and the cake tasted like it had literally just come straight out of the oven. It was an unreal experience!
Weber’s also has the most extraordinary Kolacky (ko-latch-key). For those unfamiliar with the pastry (as I was) it is a popular dessert from Central Europe that includes a flaky roll topped with various fruits. At Weber’s, they scoop out a little of the dough on one side and put the fruit almost on top of the actual pastry. My personal favorites are the cheese and blueberry flavors-They are a must try!
