another restauarant to try....
Came here for a night with friends. The server is really nice and helpful with ordering and with information on the preperation side. However the menu needs to be updated. I wanted to order the blueberry lemonade, but found out it was no longer available…
In terms of dessert, I think they lack variety…
From the outside the restaurant looks very small, but once you go in it’s not too bad. We had a party of six, so we sat by the window up front.
Dishes I tried:
duck egg yolk raviolo
duck egg yolk raviolo – green sauce, duck ham, garlic chips
A lot yummier than it sounds!
Handmade Tagliatelle
handmade tagliatelle – hen of the woods, chanterelles, grilled corn, chard, parmesan
I didn’t know they were going to serve this out as pasta style…
roasted duck breast
roasted duck breast – cabbage sausage, quinoa waffle, lobster mushrooms, orange-maple mustard
This is very tender! And the sauce is sweet.

3rd time's the charm!
The restaurant opens Thursday to Monday and it’s dinner only! They do not take reservations, so it’s a first come first serve and it’s street parking.
As you may have read the title… It took us 3 visits to get a table here! The first time, we arrived at 9pm on a saturday night and they told us we were the 4th party on the list and it would be a 2 hour wait time… so we left…
The second time we came here, it was closed….
The restaurant size itself is very small! no more than 50 people, I’m guessing. There is tables and stools….
Tonight it’s finally open!
The menu is very limited. It consists of mostly appetizers which the portions are enough for a small party of four. The main entree have only 4 choices which are pasta dishes.
The wine list is only a 8" X 10" page long… While we were there we tried the ephemere beer which tasted just like apple beer. Is actually really good! It’s not a strong beer either, it’s just enough apple to balance it out with the rest of the beer flavours.
Out of the appetizers we ordered, my favorite ones are the scallop, panini sandwhich (the crust of the bread was toasted so perfect and warm and crunchy!, just right amount of cheese and meat!), beef carpaccio.
And to add, they refill the bread constantly, whenever it’s out you will recieve a new loaf.

unique
it’s different, not like any other restaurants I have been to. It share the similar style with Entree Nous, where the portion size are for family style.
It’s good for the portion to be able to try more than 3 dishes!
My favorite dishes there was the special of the night, the pork covered with bread crumbs (tasted like a crab cake but made with pork),
The duck leg was very tasty! (one of my favorites), it’s wrapped in bacon, crispy with fig, arugula, and balsamic.
the rye bread that they gave us was a good cleanser between each of the dishes…
the veal was another good one…
as for the desserts we liked the Black fig tarte tatin
with grappa caramel and chèvre sorbet. the caramel made it soo yummy!
and the Summer pudding with brioche,
berries and whipped cream was just right! was not too rich. It was just perfect.

another dinner
so we came back again… and they remembered us… again with no reservations and we stayed past the closing time… they did not rush us with the bill until we asked for it. There are some restaurants that rush the bill out as it reaches closing time. This is not one of them…
This time ordered the duck breast entree, octopus appetizer, quail and cippolini onion appetizer… the recommended glass of wine for the night was lagone.
I ordered the chocolate truffle cake again, but instead of having mint gelato, due not being in season they served a malt gelato instead. this replacement gelato tasted like the asian drink, Horlic.

One of my favorite places for steak!
The first time I came here, my friend treated me for lunch with eggs benedict and fillet mignon! what a great sunday brunch combo!
Since then, I’ve been back for the dinner fillet mignon portion! 9oz fillet with bernaise sauce = heaven! Their fillets are sooo tender! I don’t know anywhere else can match this, especially for this price and to make it as tender as this restaurant!

new and BETTER
The new Joey’s at southcenter is over the top! We walked in with no reservations on a friday evening. The hostess at the front told us it will take 30minutes + for a table, but we could wait in the bar for something to open up in the dining area.
We walked in and found nothing, the hostess saw us and pulled up a couple chairs for us. She told us it was a full dinner bar, so if we decide to dine there instead we could. We ended up staying there for the night.
We sat right at the bar and the bartender immediately wiped down the table for us and asked and made the drinks right there for us. It’s fun to watch them make drinks…
Throughout the night, the hostess came by to check how we were doing, the manager also came by to check and see if we needed anything. We had a couple of the bartenders checked if we needed more drinks prior to an empty glass.
The dinner there tasted the same as Bellevue, but service was 10x better! Only downside for this particular Joeys is the closing time at 12am…
To add, the overall ambience and decor of the restaurants is much nicer than the one in Bellevue. There are couches, fireplace, booths, etc. (not to mention more tvs too)

Sweet Stuff
Read about this place on the kirkland weblog: http://kirklandweblog.typepad.com/kirkland_weblog/2008/02/the-french-bake.html
Decided to ccome by for the napolean cake, chocolate eclaire, creme brulee on the go and was treated a chocolate cake on the house.
I’d like to come back again on a different day and try out their coffee and possibly their fresh fruit tart and their almond croissant.
and to add, they open 6 days a week (mon – sat)
(each of these cakes were $3.40 a piece)
Dishes I tried:
Creme Brulee
It’s good! The sugar on top is too sweet, but the creme itself is very fluffy and good, not too sweet…

great experience
I liked the place… We made reservations for 4:30pm on Sunday.
When we arrived, we were seated right away and was given our menus, and water instantly.
The service was excellent! Our server came by to check on us every 5-10 minutes and refilling our glasses with wine so it’s never empty. The atmosphere of the restaurant is very trendy…
The food was good. We didn’t have to wait too long for the food, it pretty much came out 10 minutes after we were finished with our appetizers which included the calamari and the carpaccio.
In terms of tastes, I ordered the Filetto al Barolo
100% natural, hormone-free 21-day aged
angus beef tenderloin. Barolo wine sauce. It’s small, but it’s very very tender and juicy all around!
As for dessert, I ordered the Tiramisu, while my friends ordered the cheesecake and the Finishing up the Pera al Vino Bianco e Cioccolato Poached pear with chocolate sauce and hazelnut gelato.
I did not try the poached pear and hazelnut gelato, however I did manage to steal a bite off the cheesecake! The cheesecake is very soft and non-american sweet like! It resembles nothing of the cheesecakes you would buy from cheesecake factory or anywhere else. IT’s taste is very good!
Overall the experience was awesome! And I’d return here in the near future.
p.s. look at photos I uploaded.
