I enjoy eating at as many italian eateries as possible, being italian myself. I recall going to il fornaio years ago, and enjoying the modern ambience.

Now, however, i find it a shell of its previous self.
Parking is difficult. They seem to enjoy making you wait for your table, even if there are many empty tables nearby. And smiles from the staff are at a premium.

But for me, the food is everything.

Last visit, in April, I started with the calamari,,tough and overly breaded. Then had the shrimp butterflied in a pink sauce that was bland and tasted bottled , althoI do no think ti was. The srhimp was mealy and mushy.
I tried my dates pasta which was also overdone and the sauce watery.

WOrse, the wait staff acted as if they were doing me a favor to serve me. It seemed they actually glared at me when i presented the chainti i broguth for corkage, as if thier tip was going to be hurt.

I waied until I had been there 3 times this year beofre writing a review, and this experience was consistent.

Id avoid it.
