I’m a foodie and my fiancee has worked in pizza joints all his life and now owns one with a partner and we are always in search of a great pizza. You can often find me in the back kitchen coming up with a new recipe. This weekend we went to Rock Island Pub and Pizza and let me tell you, we actually wanted to take the ferry the next day for MORE pizza! The pizza has a thin, indestructible crust that holds all the liquids in, while the toppings, oh the toppings! How they stuffed all those glorious pizza toppings in, I can’t tell you. We arrived with four adults and one child, and while this place looks like a hole in the wall, I bit my tongue because we all know that the best places in the world come from holes in the wall. After perusing the menu which had about 8 specialty pizzas and numerous regular pizzas, we opted on four different selections. We went from a pizza hut Supreme style pizza to Thai and who would’ve thought that Thai pizza with peanuts would work? My fiancee’s biggest concern was the cheese. He is a cheese fanatic, where normal pizza’s have about a pound of cheese, he goes for three pounds. He inquired and they said “It’s whatever you want. You like cheese, we give you cheese!” They definitely delivered on this! Cheese was oozing to the point where long strings hung from our mouths and left oily lines on our chins! They have not only mini, but medium, large, x-large, and JUMBO! This place is a definite if you ever happen to mosey around Vashon. Open till about 10pm on a Friday night, we were lucky to get a place since the high school football team was playing. Stop on in, they have pasta’s and pizzas galore and plenty of parking. First pizza joint on the left as you enter town from the ferries!
