Great rolls, Good Value
So, coming from Texas, I’ve had a terrible time finding a place with good rolls. Not the “authentic, fresh sashimi/nigiri” type restaurants, where you know the chef is formally trained in traditional sushi methods, etc. etc. and the only creative rolls they have are the Spider Rolls and for these they’ve incorporated a single artistic sprig of wasabi sprout, to enhance the rice, seaweed and – it’s namesake – the Spider.
What I’ve been looking for is someplace with fun, gauche, American-tasting maki. ARIKATO is the place! Their rolls are wonderful, and portion sizes are very generous. Granted, they are not an upscale, polished place where you wear your Manolo Blahniks to, but sometimes, when you’re hungry for some hearty, creative rolls, this is the place to be.
(BTW, the Bessss Rolls are terrific.)
Dishes I tried:
Besssss Roll
Delicious crunchies.
Traffic Roll
Love the seaweed salad on top.
