Chicken Nachos!!!

My favorite nachos in the Nashville area. Chile Burrito Co. is a build your own burrito (and nachos in this case) place in downtown. It’s walking distance so on nice days I like to jump out with friends from work and build some awesome chicken nachos.
Get there by 11:15am if you want a quick in and out because it’s growing in popularity and filling up fast.

Great place, great food, great people!

I actually was at 1515 to shoot a video for Citysearch but Chris, the chef was kind enough to prepare a couple of the signature dishes just for me to sample. WOW! Very tasty and exceptionally well prepared.

Gene, the owner and certified wine expert, is passionate about providing a great place for people who want a first class dining experience with the compliment of the perfect wine. Their wine “loft” in the dining area is amazing but is only the front for their wine cellars which provide patrons with a choice of over 400 different wines.

Samuel, the manager, is very focused on keeping things moving smoothly and on ensuring a quality dining experience as well. The attitude of all the servers were a testament to the passion for meeting your needs.

Chris Laramie, the executive chef, has a pedigree of training and apprenticeship which is only dwarfed by his passion for putting quality food, cooked perfectly in front of you. He emphasizes there is no signature dish but instead a unique theme of taking French techniques and applying them to all kinds of local and traditional ingredients to provide a one-of-a-kind dining experience.

They use a specialized cooking method known as sous vide which ensures perfect, and consistent cooking every time and are the only restaurant in Colorado approved by the Health Department to be using the method.

Also, they’ve taken using local and fresh ingredients to a whole new level. This year they have created a roof garden and are growing their own produce. Literally, many of the ingredients are not only organically grown, but come from the roof, to the kitchen, to your plate within a matter of hours.

I recommend it. Awesome place. Great food. Great atmosphere.

I have to admit I allowed this amazing dish to sit in the kitchen while I finished shooting some video upstairs (the chef was too kind though I know he was disappointed that I allowed it to dry out some sitting under the warmer) but if what I had was sub-par the fresh one will knock your socks off!

The chicken was perfect. Full of flavor, and had the most unique mixes of texture, flavors, and colors. In fact, only one meal have I ever had with better balance and diversity.

Sopapilla capped off amazing dinner

I saw Jose O’Sheas while driving home from a meeting a few months ago in West Denver. Because we live in East Denver area it was never convenient to stop by for a meal. However, yesterday when I found myself in downtown and craving Mexican I decided to take the plunge (Not the Casa Bonita plunge mind you).

First, the atmosphere is wonderful. Very culture-full. I felt like was at least in New Mexico instead of Colorado.

Next, the service was amazing. If all the wait staff is as friendly and passionate about making its customers happy as Desi management is to be commended.

Salsa. Very good. One of the things that always amazes me is how salsa can taste different everywhere you go. I didn’t know what to expect but hoped it was good. It WAS!

Grande Burrito was the dish d’ jour. (is that wrong to mix bad french with a review of Mexican place?) Desi said it was a great choice and indeed it was. Amazing sauce. Really amazing sauce.

Desi was kind enough, seeing I loved the flavors of sauces, to point out the sauce listing on the menu I had missed. In fact, he went and got a menu and took the time to point out each sauce he had mentioned and show me the printed details. Way to go Desi!

And to top it all off, they have real sopapillas! Not those cinnamon crusted fried tortilla chips, but puffy pastries that rock!

Go there. Eat. Ask for Desi!

Great flavor combos. Shredded beef with all the fixins and smothered with an amazing sauce. One of my favorites in the area now.

Almost a five! Seriously. Great Mexican food, awesome environment. This is the Mexican restaurant where we take out of town guests when they visit.

My favorite: The Spicy Barbacoa Burrito… spicy! Can you say jalepeno sauce?

I give it a four instead of five for a couple of reasons:
1. Wait staff is a little slower than I typically experience at a five.
2. I gotta save the five for Garduno’s in New Mexico/Las Vegas!

This one is close to a four, but the lack of a place to really sit down lowers it to a three. Of course I compare it to the Hermitage TN Famous Daves which rocks…

Since the Denver area Famous Daves suck, I’m going to get meat from Brothers and add Famous Daves sauce at home!

Okay. That’s about it for this one. Definitely not as good as I remembered it 10 years ago.

It was primetime and no one was there. Should have been a hint of things to come. Food was non-inspiring and service was okay. Salsa was… well, that best describes it… it was.

EXCELLENT!

We went to Rio Grande the night of the 2007 Rockies vs Phillies playoff game. It was very busy but we got in quick and were well attended to by Doug our server.

The food was amazing… from the salsa all the way down to the en tree’s.

There’s lots of Mexican choices in the Denver area… we’ll go here again and again!

While not the best burrito I’ve ever had as part of the total package at Rio this was an excellent meal. I had the green chili sauce over it and the combo was great. I highly recommend it.

If you like corned beef hash with breakfast this is a great dish to order. The corned beef hash is out of a can, but the whole combination is a great meal.

Fazzolis Buffet

Maybe it’s just me, or the night we went, but my first experience here was just okay. The food was pretty high priced and the taste was not that great. Perhaps because it was a buffet, but not much of what I ate had full and robust taste or texture. I felt like I was at a Fazzoli’s buffet with hyped up ambiance.

Great variety, but the food quality was not that great. Most was dry or saturated and tastes did not stand out across different dishes.

Have not been to Baja in a while, but used to go once a week. You’ll know it’s good the moment you pull up around lunch time and have to find a place to park.

Tacos and burritos are the primary menu… mix and match… variety of tortilla size and flavor choices make it even more a creation of your own. Everyone I usually went with got something different. Which I think speaks to the diversity of what you can order and the wide range of what people like. Try it out! You too will love Baja Burrito!
