Good Price During Economic Times

Good prices and reasonable food especially during these tough economic times. Rarely can you spend less then $20.00 for two people for a large pizza and a sandwich.

A Man Cave

My husband loves meat while I personally am a vegetarian but do eat some chicken and fish so I was not overly excited when he suggested this restaurant. The waitresses are skimpily clad wearing chaps and short leather type vests so there is plenty of eye candy to please the men. They serve popcorn as an appetizer and there are plenty of television sets which can be seen from all angles of the room..most of the programming is set to some sort of sport or news channel. For those of you lucky enough to get away from the numerous televisions..you are treated to some wonderful 70’s and 80’s old-time rock and roll music for your musical pleasure.
The food itself is not bad. My husband cannot stop raving about the ribs. Nor can he finish them. They are so juicy and tender..they simply fall off the bone. Plus, the portions are so large that he is always bringing some home and they are just as good re-heated in the oven. He usually get’s the garlic mashed potato’s and a salad as his sides to go with them. I had the grilled shrimp the first time I was there however it took so long to get the shrimp off the skewer that I did not make that mistake the 2nd time. I ordered the chicken-tortilla soup in a bread bowl which was delicious! Seriously, it is chicken soup with loads of vegetables kicked up with spices and instead of adding crackers to your soup (although they give you some) you just dip your serving bowl of bread into the contents. It is wonderfully filling. I also tried a yam the first time and was not disappointed.
Suffice it to say, Texas Loosey’s is okay for just about anyone who wants to go out and have fun without dressing up. The first night we went I dressed up and felt out of place.
They also have plenty of entertainment as well but no karaoke which in my eyes would make the restaurant complete.

My husband ate the ribs and he loves them. He says they are better then anywhere else he has ever had. They fall right off the bone.

Newbies Not Natives

This review is aimed toward those who have never experienced California Pizza Kitchen and there are those of us locals like myself who just discovered it lately. I was amazed at the menu choices! We could have spent half an hour just deciding what to order. My husband and I went on a Saturday night and although they do not take reservations and they were a bit busy; they still seated us pretty quckly. They had some toppings I cannot imagine being on pizza such as Cheeseburger Pizza for meatlover’s which is what I thought for sure my husband would try. But he surprised me by ordering the Original BarbequePizza with Chicken while I ordered the Roasted Garlic Chicken Pizza. Our orders were taken promptly and we received our drinks right away. I was a bit disappointed that the bread they served while waiting is regular white type bread and not really french bread verse breadsticks or garlic bread but the wait wasn’t long and the food is totally worth it. The Roasted Garlic Pizza was good with just the right amount of garlic..not to much or to little..but the Original Barbeque Pizza was amazing! There was so much zing in every bite and Ithe sauce has that smoky taste. I seriously had a hard time going back to my Roasted Garlic Pizza after trying the Barbeque. The size of the pizza’s are just right for one person however a hungry man probably won’t have left-overs and the prices are not cheap. I wouldn’t say they are the on highest end of the scale but it isn’t somewhere we would go every day without a coupon. Needless to say, we are definitely going back. I think we could go back time and time again and never get the same thing again but next time, I am getting my own Original Barbeque Pizza all for myself.

Amazing! Adds a zing to your mouth. Spicy and sweet at the same time but not to sweet. The flavors take you back.to another time. Just close your eyes and you could be on a ranch. You could never get tired of this dish. Yee-Haw!

Old and Fresh

Roma D Italia has been in business for years. I am in my 40’s and had not visited in over 20 years. I could be mistaken but I believe this restaurant is family owned. The staff is friendly and they greet and get you seated right away. The menu’s are already at the table for your convenience. An appetizer is really quite filling. The appetizers are mostly scaled down versions of the actual meals. I had the Gnoocchi with pesto which was really good. The pesto was no overly done and it was just the right creamy consistancy plus the pine nuts added some extra zing to my dish. I also ordered a piece of their famous Rum Cake to take home. That Rum Cake has stayed in my memory. I asked if they cooked the rum in the cake and the waitress explained that the rum is sprayed on and the cake is very, moist. If you are driving; I highly suggest taking the cake home and eating it, otherwise you may have to explain to a police officer that it was only cake you ate due to your breath..and you really weren’t drinking rum.

Is It Really Happy??

The Happy Buffet is located in The Bristol/Warner Shopping Center in Santa Ana. There is a big sign off Warner but it is a small driveway so be careful not to miss it. The waiers try to live up to the title by greeting you at the door, seating you right away and taking your drink order. The buffet itself has scary type fish dishes as well as your standard chinese food. I stuck with the standard orange chicken, steamed rice, and tapioca pudding since I knew what they were. They were definitely served fresh and at the right temperatures. My friend tried some crab or lobster but they did not give him any of those claw things to crack it and he took forever. I told him I would not work so long just to get small bites of food. We paid for the food last and the cost is reasonable since we only spend $20.00 for two people including drinks and fortune cookies. Not to exciting compared to other buffets.
