Best dining all year

I’m the first to admit I don’t eat gourmet food much, but I took my wife here for her birthday and everything we were served was wonderful. I’m a picky eater and there was not one tidbit that I didn’t eat.

Pig's head blues

I went to this place because they dropped by my office with free babecue sandwiches. The first thing you notice when you walk in is the pig’s head in the lobby. It stares at you as if to say “go ahead. Eat me.” The meat was tender, but the sauce was watery and flavorless—not really what I look for in barbecue. I really wouldn’t recomment it.

Mmmmmmm Seafood

Chains rarely impress me, but this was really good. The goat cheese bruschetta was delicious—and huge. Our entries, a red snapper stuffed with brie and something else, and marlin served over jasmine rice and kale were both delicious.

I resisted ordering a merlot because it’s so trendy these days, but it was really good.

The desserts were wonderful: creme brulee, orange and mango tart, and blueberry cheesecake were much better than I expected.

Our waiter seemed like he was going to be the stereotypical stuck up waiter guy, but he was very attentive and great about helping us decide what to order. He even upsold me to the 8 ounce glasses of wine, but (especially after that first glass) I didn’t even care but it definitely upped my portion of the meal’s cost.

Overall a very good experience, especially for a guy who used to hate seafood.
