Eugene's Indian Connection
In this world where you can’t swing a dead cat without hitting a Chinese or Mexican restaurant ; Indian food can be downright hard to come by. But the Evergreen is there for Eugene when Indian cooking is in demand.
I can heartily recommend the quality of the food here. It is real Indian food; and I’ve been to New Delhi, so I know. It could be a little cheaper, but the prices really aren’t that bad. (Especially considering there isn’t much competition.)
The Evergreen is pretty well known for it’s buffets and this is a great way to try the myriad of Indian foods with the unpronounceable names, if you are not familiar.
Am particularly impressed with good Indian foods ability to take cuts of meat I usually can’t stand, and make finger licking dishes with them. (Goat and Lamb come to mind) I don’t think they serve pigeon there yet, but maybe they will someday.
Parking can be a little cramped. This place is popular. So if you come in at a classic lunch or dinner time, be prepared to wait a bit.
Dishes I tried:
Buffet
Good selection of North and South Indian foods. Was particularly struck with how tasty the goat dishes were. Just about everything was quite spicy but that’s the soul of Indian cooking; isn’t it.
