I have tried Carter Brother’s BBQ at both of the High Point locations and in Archdale. First let me say that they provide a great breakfast on Main St in High Point. Their other food is not that great. The bbq is ok but nothing special. It is not pit cooked and is like most bbq in this area that is cooked inside without any wood smoke for flavoring. This restaurant sells a variety of lunch and dinner plates but the food is just not very good from my experience. Today I had the chicken & rice special with green beans and mashed potatoes. The chicken was baked but really had no flavor. It was dry and very disappointing. The mashed potatoes were instant from a box. That pretty much tells the story there. The green beans had an artificial smoke flavor to them that was unappealing. The rice was flavored with bouillon and a mixture of off putting spice flaors. It did not taste good at all. It cost a little over $8.00 for this lunch, most of which ended up in the trash. Previously I’ve had their stewed chicken plate and that was a greasy unappetizing meal also. It’s disappointing to see a restaurant use so many instant products and artificial flavoring when they could use real potatoes and actually flaor the rice and chicken to make it taste good. I think other than breakfast items or a hot dog I’m going to let this be my last disappointment from Carter Brothers BBQ.
