Patxi's Chicago Pizza
May 18, 2007
Worthy of being called Chicago Pizza
This review is based on two experiences with Patxi’s. The first was a delivery of their thin crust to our office. I was pleasantly surprised by the overall full flavor (including the crust).
This time around I went for the deep dish. Upon pickup I was surprised by the weight. Damn thing is really heavy. Good sign (but not for my belt…) Upon quick inspection, it looked good. Upon consumption… I’ve found my south bay Zacharys (Berkeley), which is my California Giordanos (Chicago) which means I Really like it.

South Legend Sichuan Restaurant
Dec 29, 2006
Authentic Sichuan Cuisine
I was originaly introduced to this restaurant by a friend originally from China who was impressed with the authenticity of the dishes.
I frequent this restaurant because the food is just excellent. I really enjoy spicy food and find their menu accurately reflects spicyness. Additionally they can make most dishes even hotter without sacrificing taste. Definitely not for the faint of palate
On a recent trip to China I had ChongQing Deep Fried Chicken w/ Roasted Chili and it was exactly the same as the dish served at this restaurant.
The restaurant is pretty spacious. I gone with groups of 2-10. Despite it’s size it is frequently full, especially at the lunch hour. The wait occasionally exceeds 20 min. The menu is Extensive with almost 200 listed items. Because fo the number of times I’ve been there and the variety of people I’ve been with, I think I’ve tried something from every section of the menu. I’ve yet to be disappointed.

Garden Fresh
Dec 29, 2006
Great Food and People
The only thing better than the food at Garden Fresh is the staff. Friendly, funny and really good memory to boot.
From the Hot & Sour (or Corn & Tofu) soup served while you order to the Brown rice served with most dishes, everything prepared is Fresh and Delicious.
Most patrons are greeted with sincere and warm familiarity (which says a lot as it is regularly busy).
Prices are good and portions are served family style. It’s an excellent place, ideal for small groups of 2-4, up to 8 if the center tables are open.

Baja Cactus
Dec 29, 2006
Come for the Mole, Stay for the Flan
The chips served before you order are warm, fresh, and thick. The salsa served with them is tasty actually has a kick.
Baja Cactus serves, without question, the best Mole I’ve had at any mexican restaurant in the bay area. Although the standard Chicken Mole Poblano is great I order it special on other dishes (cheese enchilada, Nopolitos con Huevos, etc). The rice and beans that come with most dishes is usually still there afterwards. All the more room for flan.
The flan is rich & creamy. An individual serving is good for one or a group.

Nopolitos con Huevos
Excellent dish many would consider a breakfast item. The cactus is tender and the eggs are just right. Accompanies well with the salsa that comes with the chips.
