Where did Jamaica Inn go?

So i went to this place called Jamaica Inn on Flatbush Avenue, or the “Bush” as the locals call it and i noticed something was a bit different… it’s called Breeze’s now and Jamaica Inn has moved. After almost 30 years on that corner, how could they do this to me? I mean that juicy succulent brown stewed ox-tail, the curried goat that melts in your mouth, shoot they have a drink called irish moss and sorrel and let me tell you its like heaven when you drink them.

I WAS PISSED TO FIND OUT JAMAICA INN WAS GONE!

But then i was driving on Clarendon Road close to Kings Highway and seen JAMAICA INN CLASSIQ on an awning. I took a chance and went in to see if it may be related to the old Jamaica Inn. I had a talk with the owner as he welcomed me to his NEW restaurant for a free plate of Jerk Chicken. I almost cried (tears of happiness).

It turned out that he opened a new LARGER restaurant on Clarendon Road and East 56th Street. IT’S BEAUTIFUL. Not only does it have the food I love to have when I’m in Brooklyn, but it’s a full BAR, GRILL and LOUNGE! How come no one knew?

The owner said that he wanted something different to give to his old customers and entertain new ones. “I always wanted to have some form of family entertainment. Flatbush Avenue was too busy and congested to have it there so I shopped around for a place that can accommodate families who wanted to take a break away from cooking as well as get a little Manhattan styled entertainment without having Manhattan styled pricing.”

“This restaurant is for the community, and my thank you to everyone for supporting my business and my family.”

I wanted to give him a handshake, but the juices from the Jerk Chicken were dripping down my hand. I think I’m back in heaven again, thank you for letting Jamaica Inn live.

Dishes I tried:

Jerk Chicken

juicy, flavorful, moist, it came with rice and peas and steamed cabbage and fried yellow ripened plantain. everything on the plate was something of a treat to the senses, if i wasn’t watching my weight i would have had 2 plates right then and there. (so instead i ordered another plate to go, and it was even better the next day) It is truly worth driving an hour from long island to get food from this restaurant.
