Fuji Hana
Jun 14, 2008
Fuji Hana long needed on westbank
I am a sushi fan. I have eaten at Cafe Zen, Tennou, and Eastern on the westbank. I have also eaten at most sushi restaurants on the eastbank and in the city.
Fuji Hana was a surprise and a delight in almost every category the first time I visited. The service was quick and front and back waiters anticipated almost all of our needs. The food was served promptly.
We had a couple appetizers. One was Japanese Fried Chicken and some kind of spring roll as the other. They were both exceptionally good. They also were not what we expected. The Fried Chicken was very light and crispy with some kind of sweet and sour sauce reminiscent of vietnamese sweet and sour and not the goopy duck sauce that sometimes passes for sweet and sour in Asian restaurants.
The spring rolls were similarly good and unlike ones I have had elsewhere.
The main courses and sushi were outstanding and unlike Japanese dishes and sushi we have had before.
It was refreshing to eat at a place that did not have retreads of dishes served everywhere else. Fuji Hana has it’s own style and does it VERY well.
Disclaimer: We have not tried the Hibachi yet.
