What I love about breakfast is you can get two scrambled eggs, a bowl of fruit and a heaping plate of cinnamon rolls, all for the low price of $5.49. Yum.

Vanille’s flaky crust pastries stand out for their buttery flavor. I don’t recommend the cake donut (it was an accidental order) but the sunrise and the pecan roll were great. Plus, Vanille is set in the beautiful Beacon Hill neighborhood.

You must try the super soft brownies that taste like heaven. So, so good!

If long lines are any indicator of quality bakeries, Roeser’s is the finest in Chicago. It’s small but busy, and its cakes, donuts, breads and pastries are incredibly affordable.

Great service, great selection, cool experience! The ingredients, I’m told, are shipping straight from Sicily. My cannoli was hand-filled, right when I ordered it. I enjoyed the shop, but the food wasn’t the best ever.

I read a lot of the reviews before hitting Bittersweet, so maybe it helped that my expectations were low: I loved it! The macaroons are incredible, and the pecan tartlett is fab.

We tried the hazelnut something, and it was amazing…. and over $4 for a tiny slice. Delicious and fancy, but too pricey for my taste.

This tiny Lakeview pizzeria features specialty choices like imported mozzarella di buffala and unique items like sliced potatoes on its pizzas. Good atmosphere and good food, but a little pricey.

I give Swirlz 5 stars. The overpriced cupcakes sure made my day once or twice last winter, and that’s saying something. As someone else said: these are the ultimate reward. Yum.

The waitress warned me that the French Toast Orgy was a heck of a lot of food for one person; she pretty much forced me to not get all three chocolate. (Good thing!) The strawberry one was by far my favorite—absolutely delish! You must go and try this.
